Yup, so I just bought a ca18det motorset from venus-auto. They're nice people. Anyway, I got the motor for 1000, and with shipping to socal, tax and 3% added since I paid with a credit card, the total was $1343. Thank God, no interest until June.

So now I need a car to put it in. Plans for the motor are pretty hefty, I guess, I'm going with a .63 t3/t04e and the supporting hardware/software and 350 whp. I've been torn over different engines and stuff for a while, and after reading like a mofo about all the choices, the ca looked the best. The problem is I can't seem to find a decent car in my area for a decent price. I don't even care if it's a coupe or hatch or what color. Whatever, I have another car to drive, so no big deal.

I'm looking forward to building up my car, that's what I've been working 50 hours a week this summer for. Plus I'm jealous of my younger brother and his FD that he's modding. So I have to have a faster car than him, which will be hard since he just bought PowerFC and Datalogit. Still, he's going down in a couple months.

By the way you ca guys are the best.

Damn! I paid like $1200 for my clip from Venus but I picked it up myself so my total came out pretty close to yours. Check your oil pan for any dents cause they like to drag their motors across the floors and check if everything you need is there (My clip was missing the down pipe and hot pipe). Good luck

Watch out. I have a buddy that has minimal mods (FMIC, PowerFC, 3" exhaust, sequentials switched to non sequential, air filter) and he put down around 320 at the wheels in his FD;)

But the CA is the best Nissan turbo 4 hands down. Excellent choice! Congrats on the new toy and I look forward to reading about your buildup!! Too bad that you can't find a good chassis. I hear they are getting pricey in Cali. I know here in Texas, a beat on but running S13 usually gets <$1000 (except for me who HAD to have a coupe, and the ONLY for sale at the time in state was 3 hours away and cost me $2300...)

Yeah, my brother and I converted his car to non-sequential, he's got 3" all the way, apex filters, PowerFC, but his FMIC is still sitting in his room. I love FDs. They drive so perfect, and his engine is a Mazda reman. w/ 3k miles and rebuilt turbos. Still, it's important to me to keep up; I drive a Mustang right now and it sucks in every way, except for chirping under 3k rpm. Ha.

what's wrong with putting it in a Stanza (86-89)? I'm waiting for Dee to get back to me on the motor so i can drop it in my 87 Stanza GXE; power window, locks, sunroof, great shape, and best of all, it's going to be a complete sleeper. Who on their left mind would think a Stanza is going do to 12's (i'm hoping) let alone their right? :D

Now if only Dee would get back to me. I"m going to document every step of the way here. I'm just waiting for everything to get together so I can reduce any delay that missing parts might do.

here's my shell:http://www.americandan.com/stanza

power everything and folding mirrors. it's my current project.

Very nice man! I really hate how wrecking yards write in paint pen on the upper timing belt cover tho. I need to pull mine and paint it....

Everything is really clean. No MAF, but I'm upgrading to a z32 anyway. Oil pan is dented pretty bad, but I just talked to Venus and they're going to send me a replacement.

Also, I'm looking at a non-running 92 se coupe tomorrow that I will definitely buy if the exterior is decent. Then I just need a few gaskets, t3/t04e (I'm leaning towards .48 now), manifold (jgs style?), I have a front mount, need some piping & couplers, need management (emanage?), injectors, fuel pump, maintenance stuff, a K&N, clutch and full exhaust and then I'll be set! Nothing to it. By the way, I plan on taking pictures and showing updates of my progress, which I hope should take less than 2 months (but you know how stuff really happens). By the way, my goal is about 350 whp w/ a 50 trim. This thing will scream.

So I found the car I'm buying. It's a 92 coupe se, white, non-running and it's perfect for me. I'm picking it up Tuesday, and if I can get the engine parts by next weekend that's when the engine is going in.

Also, I ordered a master gasket set from my local Nissan dealer. I might get a different head gasket than the one that comes w/ the kit (Nissan Stanza gasket undoubtedly sucks) unless the stocker looks good. Also got an oil filter, water pump, thermostat, and I still need to get a timing belt kit.

Right now I've got the engine down to the bare longblock, and I'll pull the head this weekend. Of course I'll get more pictures up soon.

It looks like I'll have about $2000 to put into the car after buying the things I have; the rest will have to be paycheck to paycheck. I might (read: probably will) drop my plans for a t3/t04e and go with a t28 or big t28, but then again, I can get the manifold and bigger turbo for about $700, maybe less, and the bolt-ons are still no less than $400 well used. I just made up my mind while talking to myself; it's going to be a t28.

How does this sound:-DSM injectors 450cc-T28-SR dp, cut and reversed-HKS hi-power or whatever is cheap and used-emanage or safc-z32 maf-clutch-1g dsm bov-walbro-my bro's fmic-K&N or something

I'm going to start buying stuff, stat, and I'll post pictures of it as it comes in.

I pulled the head and crank pulley today. There's quite a bit of carbon build up on the pistons and the intake valves. Nasty.
