Post

I've been wanting 1 of these for the last 3 years and I finally did a little more than just talk smack about getting one this time around...

Anyways, the car is bone stock and very smooth, but I now find myself completely broke. It seems the tires won't be holding out for too much longer, so I'll need me a pair of new ones.

Just wondering what you guys would suggest? I'm looking for performance/summer tires.

I was taking a look at the Bridgestone Potenzas and they seem good...also a friend just got Michelin Pilot Sport for his Tiburon and they seem nice too... I guess cost isn't too much of an issue..even though I am brokeI didn't want the best, but something that is really good in performance and has "decent" tread.

Bridgestone Potenza andMichelin Pilot Sport PS2 are both excellent brand models.

Buy the michelins and you'll be set.

First off, welcome to the board!

2nd I applaud you for replacing the most important thing first. These cars are very lightweight for being rwd, so tire choice are crucial. Michelin's are the best around but pretty pricey. IMO, go with Potenza RE950's, I had them on my car for 2.5 yrs and just took them off my old totaled S13 and put them on the one i just bought a week ago. They are definite keepers. The treadwear is around 400 (better than Michelin'sI think) and the wet traction is phenomenal. Just check out TireRack.com's review for them, compare 'em side by side, the RE950's are rated very high by them. I like them so much i'm buying another set for my 16's

welcome to nico and the 240 world. You'll enjoy your stay here and you will learn more than you intended.

There is a little red flashing search button at the very top right side of this page.

search for a post I made a while back about potenza vs vokohama.

Actually, you can find almost all the answers you seak by searching.

Once again, welcome fellow Zenki.

welcome to NICO and congrats on getting the best 240! im running yokohama avs es100s on my car right now. theyre really good for a street driven only tire. they have alot of grip and are excellent in the wet. this is my second set of the es100s. the first set i had was on my lude. i liked them then so much that i opted for them a second time. next time will be different though because i auto-x on a regular basis, and the es100s are not up to par with all the other guys. my next tire will be the new falken azenis. my dad has a 96 SE with the original azenis sports, and damn are they sticky icky! might want to check into the kuhmo ecsta MX as those are really good too. enjoy the stay buddy.

welcome fellow zenki owner. If you're on a budget on tires...Kumho's are very good from my experience. If cost is no issue Yokohama's are a sure thing.

If you're in an area that snows, then might i recommend the Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S.

They're ultra-high performance and they are ranked really high by those that own them.

If it doesn't snow in your area, then I'd go with the Yokohama AVS ES100. There's something sooo right about a 240 with Yoks.

Another good tire to check out is B.F. Goodrich Traction T.A. these tires have a wear rate of 425, 60k mi. warrenty, AA traction rating (the best you can get) and in the size of 205/55/16 run about 95bucks a piece...much cheaper than the Potenzas. Yeah ok I sound like a perve that gets his jollies off on these tires but it's my job...litteraly I sell and install tires, plus I get first dids on all used tires, can anyone say burnout?

I definitely recommend the Azenis as well- I had them on my Kouki for around a year or so til I turned the rears into Hoosiers and they are by far the stickiest tire I've owned. I currently have Kuhmo Supra Ecsta ASX's and I've put around 4200 miles on them and they're well below passing inspection... Oh well, that's what I get for drifting... BTW- My specs are 225/45/17 and 245/45/17.. I would take 'em to 255/40/17, but the potholes here in Durham, NC are absolutely ridiculous. I've had to send 3 of 4 rims off to be repaired from these damned potholes. It's almost enough to make me go back to the stock 16's.... Anyways- the Azenis have my 100% approval!
