hi everyone, i just bought a 1994 240sx vert and i was hoping if you guys could help me out with the seat belt in my car.

my driver side seat belt is not tighting anymore it just hang loose when i click it on. my question is will i be able to install a hatchback or a couple seat belt on a convertible? or should i buy the new selt belt that is pretension from the newer cars and try to install it on my 240sx?

the dealer is not a choice because the guy there told me that it would cost 700.00 for a new belt which i belive he is full of ****.

First off I'd like to welcome you to the vert family. Please register your vert in the sticky thread at the top of the forum page. Oh yeah, and post some pictures of your ride before the "Picture Police" gives you a ticket...lol.As for your seat belts, a lot of us, me included, like to switch our doors over to coupe doors or you can do the pillar removal (like I did) and just get a set of coupe/HB door panels as they are far more superior to the vert door panels. Then you will need to remove your rear seat belts and move them to the front...it's all in this thread: zerothread?id=90488 Hope this helps you out...I'm not sure how to fix your seat belts if you wanted to keep them in your doors but I'm sure someone on here can help with that as well. Good luck and welcome again!

Or if you don't want to go through all the hassle, you can buy a used vert seat belt from a member who removed seat belt pillar. That'll be a quick and easy fix.

It wouldn't work/fit. I would do what 94 240sx said and just ask our members if anyone has an extra seat belt they don't need...there should be a lot out there cause a lot of the members have swapped there doors or done the pillar removal. I would give you mine but I already donated mine to my local trash dump.

I believe that the rear seat belts work for the front, but I'm not certain. If you're feeling ambitious you could try swapping a seat belt from the back.

would switching the hb or coupe door be difficult? i mean you have to cut the wires right? i have never replaced a door before so i have no clue how it work. AZHitman method of the belt was pretty neat but i want to replace the whole door instead of having to cut out the metal parts which I don't have to tools to do.

Don't cut the harness. No wire cutting needed. Just remove the door harnesses. It is not an easy job but with patience it can be done by most anyone. Cutting the pillars isn't easy either, if I would have had a set of coupe doors I would have gone that way. I've never removed or swapped the doors but I'm sure someone on here can give you some tips or advise. Some of you guys that swapped doors chime in to give this guys some help/encouragement.

wmdavis007, isn't the coupe/hb 240 door unsafe? i mean the vert door has alot of metal reinforced to it.

If it was unsafe why would they have it in the HB? Only reason they have all that extra metal is for the seat belts to hold on to. The door is structurally sound to hold its own as long as you put your seat belts somewhere else. But putting the belts somewhere else might not be safe. All depends on how you do it. just get a harness and youll be good.
