I just bought a 87 300z with the digital dash/climate control. The dash, climate control, radio, parking lights and brake lights dont work. the headlights turn on, but do not pop up.

Would the power supply be the culprit for the dash AND climate control/ radio or are they seperate problems?

Where should I start looking to fix the parking light/brake light and headlight retractor problems?

Other than that, the car is in great shape and runs like a champ, would like to be able to drive it after dark

I believe the climate control works independent of the dash power supply, I should hope it goes without saying checking the fuses should have been your first task, and the headlight motors ight require a trip to the boneyard

I'll def. check the fuses first. I haven't had a chance to work on the car at all yet. Previous owner said that when the dash went out, the climate control did too. I was hoping they'd all be one problem solved when i replace the dash power supply but im getting the feeling this car is going to turn into a headache pretty fast.

ok, all the problems are related to the main battery ground fusible link in the engine bay. i ghetto rigged a piece of wire to test it out and ALL of the interior features (except the digital dash) powered up. I have a power supply for the digital dash coming in, so im not too worried about that, but where can I find that fusible link? advance auto couldnt get it in until the 28th of the month, theres an '88 z at the local pull a part i can try, but if that fails, is that a part nissan usually keeps in stock?

I'm a bit confused, is it a bad fusible link or is it a bad ground? If it's a fusible link you can replace it with an online fuse of the appropriate amperage, if it's a bad ground just pick up some ground straps at the parts store or make your own with wire and ring terminals

the main problem was a bad fusible link. i went to pull-a-part and got another.

now everything works, except the digital dash. I was poking around today and looked at the power supply for it. the 7.5amp fuse in it was popped. i replaced it, and it popped again. so just for fun i put a 10amp fuse in. the digital dash came on for a split second then went out again, so i turned the ignition off and pulled the 10amp fuse out. you think thats a power supply problem or dash problem?

hmmm, well it could be a probme inbetween, some bonheaded attempt at stereo or alarm wiring could have tapped into the wrong wire, I'd start by removing all no factory wiring, then disconnece the harness fromt he power supply and see if ti pops, if so, check the resistance to ground and start tracing the wires
