I bought a 1978 280z as a project car. Since purchasing it we have been able to get it started a couple of times but only while working the throttle.I have not had much luck lately, the car will turn over but it just wont start. It seems like the fuel, vacuum, is good. I think the problem is the injectors are not firing, although I cant confirm this. There is also a relay (electronic fuel injection relay) its not energizing. Havent traced the power to that yet. That may have something to do with it. My knowledge of cars is pretty limited. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Greg

are you getting fuel pressure? the afm can stick and shut the fuel pump off, easy enough to stick you finger in there and move it, beyond that the injecotr relay on the 78 I believe is located above the ecu in the drivers kickpanle (it's been a while since I've played with stock electronic's), the injector connectors are a common problem they crack and stop making contact, does it fire up better with a shop of starting fluid? just want to be sure we're looking in the right direction

just to add to the above.... check the wires going to the battery, there is 2 10 gauge wires, along with the big cables, the 10 gauge wires should be one on each post. When I bought my car the battery had been replaced and both wires were put back on the positive side, so the computer (and fuel relay) weren't getting power.(ground)

Right click and save this file. It is the theory and troubleshooting manual for the fuel injection system. http://www.fairladyzg.com/PDF/...k.pdf
