Today I bought a 1996 240SX SE. I'm picking up Monday so it can finish inspection. Anyway I don't know if it has ABS, how can I figure this out as I don't want to experience finding out the hard way and if it doesn't can it be installed.? Thanks.

Easiest way I think, open fuse box and see if the fuse is there for ABS or not.

that or u can check behind the rotor for the ABS theres this gear and next to it is the speed sensor jus shows wat it may look like but the fuse box thing is the best way

And if it doesn't have it, it can be installed but it would cost a lot of money. Best bet is just to get larger brakes or something. There is so many thinks that need to be installed to get a proper working ABS system.

That's funny, I hate ABS with a passion. Turbo Duce has ABS, and when I'm ready to put the engine back in, I'm getting rid of it.

if you want to drive competetively, it's better to modulate your braking rather than having ABS. I personally don't like the feel of ABS. I just hate the feeling of it when it pumps for you.

thats what she said?

but in all seriousness, ya ABS sucks. especially when it breaks. Everytime my ABS came on it felt like the front end was falling off... SUPER HICAS is also one of those "f*ck my life" maintnence headaches...

Agreed, it's just one of those things. I wouldn't mind it on a heavy luxury car. I can stop in a much shorter distance doing my own modulation, and I've driven many cars with and without.

Not saying the original poster shouldn't want it, just saying that I hate it haha. There are panic situations where with the clearest head in the world you're going to lock the wheels. You just have to think fast, let go, and start over.

s13 abs you can go ahead and chuck out of the window for all its worth, now an s14..its a split decision, but if it give you problems, i.e. the rear solenoid or something quits working.

kick it to boot, that's like an 1100 dollar replacement
