Full tune up, plugs/wires/dizzy cap+rotor water pump timing chain radiator flush oil change break fluid flush transmission fluid change check your break calipers for leaks and your break pads for thickness check your CV boots and ball joints check your tires for dry rot/excessive wear, replace if need be

Thats just the basics, but you should definitely do all of that to make sure you have a reliable and safe car first. After that i would say a suspension upgrade, shocks/springs. Im sure your stock shocks are worn out by now. You gotta think that cars 17 years old so you first need to recondition it before you do anything for additional HP to the engine.

not if there are other, more important things that need to be done. plus, 1700 wouldnt even get you a good condition sr20. you need at least 2K for a good motorset from a sponsor, then around 3-600 to ship it, THEN you still need money for other small **** he might need while doing the swap.id much rather do a full tune up, get some new tires if needed, replace anything thats broken, etc.

Is it a automatic or manual? If it's an automatic, I'd do a five speed swap. If it's a five speed, then just do some tuning up like 480sx said.

1. look over your hoses and hardlines that run from the back to the front, ie your brake lines and fuel lines.2. make sure your rotors and pads are in working order and that the caliper pins are well lubed.3. look for rust and repair accordingly.4. fix the tension rod bushings, inner/outer tie rods. if they haven't been replaced already, chances are you'll be in for them soon.5. Get an alignment.6. tune up the engine.7. look over your seat belts. if there is any damage go to the dealer and have them deal with it. 8. go over your timing chain. if it hasn't been done yet, you're in for it now. 9. summer is coming around. if you're doing a chain job, might as well replace the water pump and thermostat while giving your system a good flush and fresh coolant. 10. look over your tires. inflate to proper pressure and look for cracks, especially at your spare tire. 11. Wash it, while you're washing, look for leaks in the cabin and trunk. pay attention to the areas around the tail lights and trunk/hatch.

at the end of that list, come back and let us know how much cash you got.

Stickers? Seriously..... what is DANK anyway? If you have $1700 to spend on it. Why don't you look at the condition of the tires, hoses, bushings, struts. Take a good look at the car. If this is your main mode of transportation, you need this to run everytime you put the key in it. Assess the car and replace the parts that show the most wear. Upgrade those parts if you want (my prefered method of replacement). Don't spend your money on stupid little stuff like stickers, shift knobs, steering wheel covers, seat covers, headlights, half *** body kits, cheap heavy wheels. Tastefully and intelligently modify your car.

If you were you, I would just start browsing though the members rides post and take some ideas from other people. Don't forget to assess the car and see what you NEED to spend money on.

d's as in duct tape

So his Cadillac won't fall apart.

Well what is the condition of your car? Well if this is your daily driver, I would go straight for repairs or replacing if needed, but if this was my fun car, I'll get suspension first. (Coilovers, like Stance gr-pros)

If the engine es running well I mean no smoke...knocks... or anything else on the engine... THEN check suspension, tires, bushings, brakes, joints, ligths, stearing wheel system... with all that you are safe.. then check the engine...

How many miles on your motor? I'm sure its well over 100,000. If so you should definately look into replacing the timing chain guide thats laying in your oil pan. They are notorious for buting into to pieces. It's made from cheap plastic. The timing chain itself will start wearing a hole into your water jacket inside the timing chain cover, mixing your oil and water, then you are screwed. It's a ka24e or ka24de?
