I just recently purchased a 2004 350Z black 6spd base model.. I absolutely love the car. Everything from the exhaust note to the handling have me all tingly.. My questions to the knowledgeable are pretty basic.. Aside from turbos and superchargers what upgrades can i install that will give some decent HP gains while keeping the car under warranty and reduce my probability of blowing the motor or damaging it.. After doing some research i'm thinking a full catback exhaust including headers and a cold air intake. So my second question is do these upgrades alone require a chip or tuning? Thanks ahead of time and all help is greatly appreciated.. Pics of the car this weekend..

unless you buy the nismo intake and exhaust I'm pretty sure you still void your warranty, and no tuning isn't required to sue those mods but a chip can help you to take full advantage of them, the problem is you'll still see very litle actual gain for your dollar considering the cost fo the exhaust kits, compared to say a sc kit, tripple the cost and 10 times the power gain

That is correct I slapped a intake and exhaust and did not notice anything from NISMO.

Now I got a totally different answer from the goons at my Nissan dealership. I specifically ask them about a turbocharger and they told me and I quote "If they install it and the boost is 8 psi or lower, your warranty stays intact.

If I get that in writing I will get this black Z tornado up to about 450hp. The cost is so relevant when upgrading because so many other things come along with a faster car (Brakes, tires, and wear and tear, etc.) Be thoughtful and make sure you really want to so say "waste" that money because it will not increase the resale value of your car. Good luck we all burn our money in all kinds of ways.Happy horse-powering

Pick up a nismo book from yyour local dealer. Those are about the only options without voiding your warrenty. You can put almost anything on your car, but if something go's wrong with it the dealer will blame it on the aftermarket parts.

So true, even though adding an intake or cat back exhaust shouldn't cause any engine problems more than what is already wrong.

Law states they have to prove that the aftermarket equipment was the reason for a part failure, so if you modify suspension and the engine blows they can't say the springs caused it. It'd be pretty hard to fight anything done to the engine as not causing an engine failure, even though it's a pretty low chance that a pop charger increased HP enough to blow the engine.

If you want to mod, you take the risk of voiding your warranty.
