just bought '91 SE-R, $200 buks!

Just like the title says, I just bought a '91 sentra SE-R, and it cost me 200 buks. Its black and has g20t leather rear seats. The engine is good but the transmission might be bad, I am not sure. It seems to be stuck on 2nd gear. I was told the clutch is newish and has less than 500 miles on it. Depressing the clutch and kicking the lever doesn't work(FACT).

I am guessing that I can transplant a bigger engine or even something with a turbo.. but what? I was told the trannys are real cheap and can not handle the dump of a high hp engine. Can someone give me a hint of what I can do to this car that can make it outrun other popular cars?

There's an FAQ about what motors swap easily into that car. Be more specific about your goals (say hp and/or cars you want to be comparable to) and we might be of more help.

The trannies are fine, they'll handle 250-300whp without too much trouble. For more than that, it's recommended that you get a 2000-2001 Sentra SE performance package transmission. If the transmission needs replacing anyway, you might as well make the upgrade to the later one.

If the clutch is new, I would say something is wrong with the T.O.B. I would give that a whirl before finding a transmission. If there is nothing wrong with the motor, then keep driving it like it is until there is a reason to dump money into a something different. DET is the only route to go if you want to have some real fun.

this prob doesnt help you but it might help someone... i hit a big *** bump while shifting one day and something happend i wasnt sure what at the time but i was stuck in 1st gear, after messing around for a while i realized my rear transmission/motor mount broke and some bolts broke from transmission to motor so my engine was sitting cocked backwards holding it in 1st, i figured this out by jacking up the back of the engine and then trying to shift..... but urs is 2nd gear maybe ur front mount broke ???????
