So im 18 and I havent had a manual car before and Ive always wanted a Z so I got one for 3k.. Its kinda run down and bad but I just bought a parts car for 500 with new exhaust.. cai all that stuff.
well here is my dumb question

when you let off the gas in a manual car should it jerk the car and slow you down a descent amount? The shifter also moves back and forth while not pressing on the gas...

here is another one haha
when youre in first starting off slowly I hear a kind of grinding noise>> I guess the clutch or something connecting but I just wondered if that should be loud too...

Dude its really hard to teach someone to drive a stick through a forum post, i say find someone you know that knows how to drive a stick and get them to teach you, and no if your doing it right your car should never jerk unless your launching, but thats a story for another day.

ok, maybe you don't get it, in a manual trans when you lef off the cas the engien si still engaged to the trans and will "engine brake" this will cause the shifter to move as it's also attached to the trans, so maybe everything is fine and you might want to have someone who has been driving a manual trans for lets say 10 years have a go at it and see what they think

yeah but I wouldnt think it would make a grinding chugging noise. Ive read that bad or old motor/transmission mounts can cause what im trying to explain to you.

I use to own a manual N/A 95 Z. My shifter felt like it was in neutral all the time until I replaced the plastic bushings. I dunno if this is correct or not, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but you could check to see if the trans mounts are worn out or even maybe loose if the previous owner has removed the trans. When letting off the gas that causes the engine and trans to move slightly. Just a suggestion. The grinding issue could be within the synrcos. I know that the old style trans in the z32s are notorious for having grinding issues as well which is why upgrading to the newer 99 spec the the best choice! sry if this doesnt help any.

redline is transmission oil right? I heard the transmission only works with a certain gear oil due to the corrosion of different types of gear oil can produce
