Just bought 1998 200sx GA16DE

So I am getting rid of my chevy cause it's on it's last leg and finally foung the car to replace it. The afore mentioned 200sx. It has 128000 miles on it. Any Ideas of things I should check out as far as mechanics? Also what mods, bolt on, tweaks ect. are worth doing on the 1.6L? It's a five speed and the first manual transmisson I've owned. I'm having a hard time getting moving in first gear (Stalled out at a light driving it home) should I be worried about the clutch or is it really just an art to get it going?

With your first manual trans you're bound to stall a bit. It takes practice. Your clutch is probably fine. To test it, get going in 5th gear at a medium speed and floor it. If the revs jump very quickly, even if it's just for a sec, your clutch is slipping.

The 1.6 has I/H/E and cams available. That's about it unless you go custom. Take a look around and see what other owners are using.

The 1.6 isn't problematic, so you shouldn't have to worry about anything. Keep up on oil changes and such and you're fine.
