just got me a 07 g35x, black on black, prem, nav. would like to get some new rims. prob black with chrome lip. my question is what should i choose for size. looks like i could fit 20" on it, but im thinking maybe go 18-19 with a fatter tire so i dont rish loosing a rim to potholes. i do a lot of driving and just dont want to be sorry later with super low profile. anyone have an 07 with some aftermarket rims on it so i can see what the size looks like?

thanks,

brian

What are the specs of the OEM wheels? That would help determine what kind of offsets you could run on new wheels.

I did some research and this is what I found so far for wheel specs for the sport sedan:

OEM 18 inch RIMS on the Sport are:-Front 18" x 7.5" with 45mm offset-Rear 18" x 8.5" with 50mm offset

The wheels below are what one particular person is running as an upgradeThe Volk 19 inch RIMS I got are:-Front 19" x 8.5" with 34 mm offset-Rear 19" x 9.5" with 40 mm offset

As far as upgrading wheels on the X model. Keep in mind you probably don't want to run a staggered wheel setup. Some fear it will cause issues with the VDC.

My opinion on wheels is that if you are looking for a performance upgrade, stay away from 20's. Much better choices in 18-19" wheels.

thanks for the reply. im def going with 18-19, anyone have some pics of 18 and 19" on an 07? maybe its to early since the car just came out and most people dont throw new rims and tires on so soon!

but my question now is i wouldnt go with the same width for from to back, but would the offset throw off the vcd as well?

so i want to stay with a 19x9.5 for a wide look, but which offset 34 or 40? i want the rim and tire not so tucked, but out to the edge, but not to far that it throws rocks and sand on the paint....does that make sense?

As I posted earlier, you DON'T want to run a staggered wheel setup (different sizes front and rear). I would run either a 18x8.5 wheel with around 35-38mm offset all the way around or a 19 x 8.5 with same offset all the way around.

ok. will the 35mm bring the wheel out more, or tuck it under more?

Wheels: Volk SF Challenge's (Mercury Silver) from http://www.injectedperformance.com

Front: 19 x 8.5 34 mm offset Rear: 19 x 9.5 40 mm offset

Tires: Falken FK452's from http://www.edgeracing.com

Front: 245/40/19Rear: 275/35/19

No problems with rubbing and no rolling of fenders required.

Here's a wheel size calculator that will tell you how much new wheels will vary from your current wheel http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

I don't know about running staggered RIMs with the g35x. The Sport comes with OEM staggers RIMs but it's not 4-wheel drive.

You should be able to run 19" x 8.5" with 34 mm offset front and back with 245/40/19's with no problems.

Your front would look like my car (pushed out 24mm more than OEM) and the rear would also be pushed out 24mm more than OEM (my 9.5" rears are pushed out 30mm more than OEM).

The non-sport comes with 17" and the sport comes with 18" rims. So actually I went 2" larger than the RIMS that came on the car. The overall tire diameter is the same as the factory so as not to screw up my speedometer.

For comparison, these were the factory 17" wheels vs. 19"'s

I'm not trying to see how big a rim I can go with, just looking for something about the same size as the 18" sport wheels except in a diferent style.

The 19"s do ride a little harder than the 17"s. Not bad but it's noticable. There's also more road noise from having 1" more rubber on the rd in the front and 2" more on the road in the back.

Be careful with the rear offsets and 9.5" rims. A 40mm offset is pushing it.My rear tires are pushed out the rear fenderwells just a touch (about 1/4").

Got this pic from IvoryPearl07 (from another Infiniti forum).

Does anyone know why the front tires for the G35 Sport has a higher aspect ratio (50) than the rear (45)? Shouldn't they be the same?

Railgunner:

Man, I love the look of that car!

I just bought an 07 G35X, and got winters put on my OE 17 wheels, but come spring - I'll be putting on 18's with wider rubber.

I want to go to 245/45/18's on all our corners because of the 4wd, but I want to bring the backs out wider. I was thinking of going 45mm offset on the fronts, and 35mm offset on the backs..This would result (I think) in moving the outside edge of the fronts out 20mm and the outside edge of the backs out 30mm, giving me a stance similar to yours.

Infiniti and others say you shouldn't go " staggered" on AWD vehicle,But.... I think that their definition of staggered is " OD " tirel diameter being different between front and back, not tire position.

Do you know?

congrats man... that's the best looking "s" I've seen to date.

Some tire guys i've talked say that you shouldn't go more than 235 rubber on the front, because it "tracks" too much (whatever that means).

Have you noticed any handling problems with your 245's up front?

I want to go 245's all around on my "x"
