Just blew away a Mitsu Eclipse GT with NOS?????

I am strictly a road race competitor for many years now and find drag raceing very boring. So since I know very little about NOS, I had to ask if this is what I heard. This guy comes up next to my 07 Z in a Mitsu (which I used to have and was a total POC). I have heard this sound before. He lets off a short kind of chew or whistle sound lasting maybe a second. My only assumption is that he is actuating the bottle to intimidate me. Did not work! We are together for only 50 feet and then I leave him like he had an anchor out! No big deal as anyone can put their foot to the floor, but what the hell was that stupid chew/ whistle type sound from under the hood?

may have been a blow off valve... youtube should have some endless amounts of video with blow off valve sounds in it... some guy actually attached a duck caller to the valve, funny video.

Thats what i was thinking a blow off valve or if it really was nitrous maybe it was a purge valve?

When someones car is on the bottle, please refer to it as Nitrous not fast and furious style calling is NAWZZZZZ!

Thanks Jabber, I took a look at the video and its pretty hilarious. (Yes, I know what NOS stands for.) Temporary fake power as some refer to it! Good for laughing gas too I hear! It must have been the blow off valve you mention after listening to the videos. But when I see turbo applications at track events I have never heard this goofy noise. It sounded like some gimmick piece the kid got from Wal-Mart.

Mitsu's are all POS's. Couldn't help but mentioning that, G/f had an old eclipse, nothing but problems.

pretty much my guess too. if the car doesnt have a blow off valve it will have a waste gate which has more of the "whooshing" sound.

@badfish... didnt know? DSM's are nothing but trouble..... if you can get them to even run... sorry to those who have a DSM but you know its true.

can't believe you wasted your gas on an eclipse. I don't care if he reved at you, that is still racing. If somebody revs on me on a stoplight I rev back. I just pretend to race, because the biggest grin I will ever get is if the other guy speeds off then gets pulled over for racing-because that is what people deserve for doing stupid things on the road.

Keep the racing at the tracks, let kids be kids you know better

our Z's don't have to prove anything but all to loose. what if that guy had a sleeper, you would be haunted by a crappy Eclipse. If you don't race- you win your car looks good...you just let him pass and just make fun of his corny as car. at least on the inside, but if there is a racing stripe along it's side- I don't hold back and start laughing hysterically and turn on my Tokyo Drift soundtrack
