During this long weekend I drove to D.C, and this is my first long trip(with Rogue). This trip is about 1000 miles in total and Rogue handled pretty good. It was very smooth ride and I am pretty happy to drive it @80mph, overtaking Accords and Altimas(That is what I pretty much saw on the road). It specially handled very well in the route US-15, which is very curvy... Overall, my impression is the ride will very smooth once you reach around 70mph.

That's great to hear!

I also recently got back from a trip where I put almost 1200 miles on my Rogue. I was so happy with its handling and the gas mileage I got. One tank I got 31.5 mpg. That was with about 90% interstate driving.

It handled great in the mountains, on those steep and curvy roads. I even tried out the paddle shifters in the mountains and was pretty happy with that as well.

29.5mpg on hilly roads? sounds hard to believe. I just got back from an 850 mile trip with very little hills and I averaged 27.5mpg driving usually around 75 to 80mph. On the way back I had a head wind and only got 24.6mpg. Now just to clarify, that trip was with 3 adults with a total weight of probably 525lbs and about 100lbs of luggage.

The highest my Rogue has gotten is 29mpg driving at 45mph. 45mph seems to be the optimum speed for fuel economy. This was on a fairly straight road with very little hills and a light load.

Etch,

If you look at my post again, you'll see that I said during my trip I had one tank of gas where I got 31.5 and that was 90% interstate. No mountain driving on that tank. Also, probably important to note, that number is what was displayed on my dash. I didn't calculate myself.

On the average, I'm usually getting around 24 mpg ... that it 90% city/10% interstate.

I believe your numbers, with my FWD Rogue I routinely get 32.5 mpg and that is with about 60 highway/40 city driving. I didn't have much of a load, just 2 adults and minimal luggage, being heavily loaded will make a big difference to fuel efficiency.

At what speeds? I have yet to see those kinds of numbers over time, especially with mixed city/hwy.

I think the key is not the speed you travel at but rather the rate of acceleration. I accelerate gently in town, keeping the loads light and the rpms around 1500, and I drive the speed limit in town. On the highway I drive around 115 km/hr. I have found a couple of others that are getting exactly the same numbers as me. Also note that I have a FWD, and I don't use the AC or fan very often.

I've played around with my mpg indicator on the highway too on a recent trip. I filled up with gas right before I got on the highway and reset it. The numbers change quickly at first and then slow down at around the 29.5 mpg mark. Once the indicator stopped moving for several miles I changed my speed slightly. At 75 mph the numbers slowly started going down to 28 mpg. I then slowed down to 65 mph for about 20 miles and the numbers climbed up again. At 70 mph the mpg number held steady. So I figure 70 mph is about the fastest I can go for the best mpg. I also wanted to see how high I could get mine to go so I went 65 mph with the AC off for about 90 miles and it went up to 31.2 mpg. My little game ended before I could see if it would go higher as I had to get off the highway and take city roads. Weight does make a big difference and my numbers on this trip was done driving alone and only a small piece of luggage in the back. I would imagine a full load of luggage and passengers I would get far lower mpg numbers.

Just posted my mileage report in the mileage sticky thread. Best mileage was 36.9 mpg. The car ran great, it is very smooth and quiet. I was also impressed with the performance and the paddle shifters came in handy driving through the Logan Pass in Glacier Nat'l Park.
