So to start off I have been out of the Nissan world for about 5 years but had my S14 Silvia sitting the whole time and am getting back into it. I am currently building the SR and need some insight on how much horsepower I could shoot for and how. I'm currently thinking around the 400 range, I could probably go over, but I don't feel I need that, I'm already thinking of tuning it to about 350 for driveability reasons. If I can hit 400+ I'd be all over it but that's not really reasonable. It's only being built as a weekend warrior and occasional track car, I will not be daily driving it. I'll throw out a list of my current mods and planned mods but I really need help on which route to go to overall. I've gotten a lot of advice, most of which was not very good. I don't know a lot about my car anymore, I got into the Toyota truck and off road scene and got busy with work, the car has sat. I've owned it for 6 years and have put 1,800 miles on it.
Engine is currently pulled and being put back together slowly. It's an S14 Notchtop SR
Block - stock, honed and decked
Crank - New, OEM
Bearings - King race bearings
Rods - Eagle forged rods
Pistons - undecided but going forged
Oil Pan - Circuit sports baffled
Oil pump - undecided, have a good stock one but feel I should go aftermarket
Head gasket and studs - not ordered but thinking ARP head studs and cometic gasket
clutch, pressure plate and flywheel - undecided
head - stock, decked, polished
valve springs, retainers, valves - stock
cams - stock with variable timing currently but looking to replace
manifold - XSPower bottom mount
Turbo - stock currently but wanted to change to GT2871R at minimum, thinking going top mount with a holset now.
exhaust - Tomei duals
MAF - currently stock SR but I have some Z32 MAFs around.
intake - stock S14 notchtop
TB - stock S14 SR
intercooler/piping/BOV - undecided
fuel pump - 340LPH
Injectors - undecided
Coil packs - Splitfire
tuner - Have an Apexi SAFC Neo currently but I know that won't cut it.
Oil catch can and coolant overflow
have a Tomei and an HKS air filter kicking around.

Doesn't fall under my engine build but,
body - 7 point cage, bride zeta 1 seats, half gutted, +30mm front fenders, body kit, B Wave spoiler, fiberglass hood, need +50mm rear fenders.
suspension - CST (may be wrong, it's been a while) coilovers, all new rear suspension arms, inner and outer tie rods all from phase 2 motortrend. Tomei torsion arms
Differential - 2 way, brand unknown, was in the car when I bought it.
Subframe - stock with poly bushings
wheels - 18x11 rear, 18 x 7 (swapping 1" lips out for 4" lips to be 18x10) front, Veilside Andrew racing type F
Tires - all mismatched and needing to be burnt off then replaced with proper tires. Rears are 295/30R18, front I don't care about because they're being replaced anyway.

I think that's about it. So essentially, fill in the blanks. What should I be doing for that nice 400hp range? Can I get more out of my car if I wanted to? I'm an off road heavy equipment mechanic and my roommate is an on road heavy duty mechanic, we are doing all of the work and it will be sent to a shop for the alignment and tuning.

Sounds like you have a good plan. Tuning is going to make all the difference.

Post up the build thread when you start!

you use a stock engine for 350rwhp, gt2871r 64 a/r on a stock manifold and some 256 tomei cams is all you need. don't touch the bottom end, don't throw a ton of parts on it. there is nothing to "build". Just buy a spare shortblock so you are set for 5~ years if you put 12,000miles/year you can get 40k out of each OEM bottom end, or more, @ 350wheel. Use a Power FC MAF version to make tuning easy, get one off ebay for $300-$450, on a Z32 maf is fine.

Main precautions are: use high quality intercooler/plumbing, use an authentic bypass recirculated, use synthetic motor oil, use blankets and shields, do boost leak tests and compression tests regularly every 4-6 months, A/F during 17psi of boost is 11.5 off a dyno wideband and 11.2 in the car wideband, mount wideband 3-5' from turbine, use a stock outlet or high quality outlet, WOT timing is 9* btdc no more than 10*, this is cookie cutter stuff.
