I'm just about to make a deal on a QX56 if everything works out over the next 2 days anyways;I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me before I took this plunge?

Either in terms of Price I should expect, things I need to be aware of or extras I should purchase (or ask to be included)- that sort of thing...

is there anyone that basically also thinks that Buying a 2010 is a very silly thing to do?

Any advice would be great...Thanks in advance

Nothing wrong at all with buying a 2010, you will love it. Only question is whether or not you should have saved a significant amount of money and purchase an Armada Platinum edition instead. Basically no Xenon lights, no I-Cruise, and a few other minor differences.

I had some "issues" with the 'making a deal' process at the dealership the other day when I went in to sign the offer... so I have suspended my dealings with the infiniti brand for the time being;

I have been looking at the Nissan version much closer and I'm starting the lean that way - I actually had my mind made up on the QX56 and was there with check in hand to buy it - and after some discussions I learned the dealership representative had made commitments he could not honor and the that started to come to light - so I retracted my offer and exchanged some commentary on the representatives ability to tell the truth and follow through on his commitments...

at the end of the day the dealerships Gernal manager called me that night and spent 45 min on the phone with me and he attempted to explain away the misunderstandings... he also called me again today in an effort to get me to come back and sign off on the car...

I'm having a really hard time buying a second car from them after this last event...

Basically, I (without getting into all the details) don't like the way this sales rep said stuff, committed to stuff and them backed out... when I called him on it he told me to take my business else where ( I then proceded to tell him that choice was mine on where to buy a car from and I would not be buying one with him!)... I really like the QX56 - well my wife likes it more that the Nissan as it seems to have more head room in the rear seats for some reason (the headliner is molded different it appears)...

So I'm torn with doing what my principles want me to do, and what I think more sense for me - I'm just having a hard time separating my disgust and anger towards the sales rep from what I want to buy...

saying it differently - I don't want the sales guy thinking he has won somehow if I go back and buy that car... but I also don't want to avoid buying the car because I hate the guy...

so I decided to let things cool down until the weekend - the manager is holding the car for me without a deposit until I let him know...

Well, I will have to decide on Saturday I guess what I want to do; its been 2 days now - I'm not sure its getting any better - I have not even got a call from the sales guy to apologize for his part in this...

As a foot note - I made some calls to Nissan Dealerships since this started and wow they ALL seem to be way more friendly helpful - and even offering advice on how to leverage the few different programs they have and stuff... basically being really nice and giving off a genuine feeling of wanting to help as compared to suck the cash from my pocket when I walk by the other sales rep. there is a ton of Nissan Dealerships - all were WAY better to deal with...

Well, I'm not shutting the door on the infiniti yet - I'm probably going to have a meeting with the General Manager on Saturday and try and get a feel for what to do... they have offered me a new sales rep - or even doing the deal as a 'house' transaction if I wanted to do that.

Why does buying a car always have to be an adventure - I guess my expectations are too high.... like asking for the truth, and to only make commitments you intend to keep....

Buying experience is ten times better if you have approved financing from an outside lending institution (credit union preferrably. better interest). Or Cash out of course..

That way you have a budget in mind and price to negotiate. Sales people who know your looking to cash out will bend over backwards and all they hav to do is look for the car you want or just use craigslists and test drive the crap out of every qx56.... Thats what I did. and shaw sham..yo.. Got what I wanted .. warranty and all..

2010 Wow.. Balla statis... I liked the 06 07 model just a lil better than the 08 09... Though.. cant wait for the 2011..Like the front grill, but the back looking like a Lexus.... 06 07 has that command center look yo.. plus the wood grain steering wheel..the 08 09 I dont think they have that feature and the navi in the dash versus being exposed in the middle console which gives it that starship command centre look...

Nehow its still the best investment and infiniti keeps its value. You want luxury and power stick with the Qx56 plus they have a super charged version if you want the Titanic to go Mach speed....

Good Luck... Let me know if you have anymore questions...

I am confused, why would you like the 2010 model so much, but say you like the '06 & '07 better than the '08 & '09 models???? '08 & '09 is the same as the 2010!!!!

Well, I went in on Saturday and purchased the QX56 - in Canada they only come 2 ways, 7 passenger or 8 passenger - all other options are standard... I will get the car in March sometime.

iNfinitiNBeYondAs for Financing - The 3.9% they were offering here was significantly better than any bank was able to do - I was not worried about that - nor was the dealership, the credit app took 5 min, and the approval was just about as fast... I have purchased cars with them before and they know I have no issues paying for the car... the Budget was not a concern for me... I need a car that performed a very specific function, and that was the QX for me (or could have been the Armada also).

The "discount" I was expecting had nothing to do with budget - and the failures of the dealership to impress me had nothing to do with money, but rather setting expectations and then actually doing it. The main point for me was don't tell me you are going to do something for me, then not do it. They did that about 5 times on this deal - and thats what pissed me off...

I had a good conversation with the general manager and he seemed to understand what went wrong with the sales rep's commitments and he apologized for his part as he was only getting part of the picture of what was going on. (The way this went down is just too complex for a forum post, and I can only give you broad strokes on what went down).

At the end of the conversation with the GM, I had a good sense that this was a-typical of the dealership's commitment to service. And dont forget, I have had for over 4 years, and will continue to have my M35x (This is the second Infiniti) - So I have had good and bad with the dealership - but nothing like this young sales professional exposed me to.

I'm now comfortable that the dealership will live up the Infiniti brand image. I'm planning on buying another car and replacing the M35x with a newer one soon - and they know my purchase habbits - I have to trust that people do learn from mistakes, and will at least not repeat the same ones.

So in a nut shell, I'm pretty pleased that the deal is finally done. I got a good interest rate from the dealership if I choose to finance it when its in for delivery, and exactly the Car I wanted.

I'm prepared to let history be just that for the moment.

It is a huge relief when you are actually driving the new ride home! That is usually when I believe a sigh of relief. I guess I am the type of person that "will believe it when I see it" LOL.......I have had a few broken promises when it comes to car dealers.

I didn't even bother to read the last post so I don't know if you made the deal on the QX56 or not. My advice to you is to buy the QX56 because that is what you want and more so what your wife wants. Just don't give the clowns at that dealership your business. You are the customer and they need to earn your business. PERIOD! Travel to another Infiniti dealer and then explain to those salesmen that you have driven over to them because of what hppened at the last dealership and let THEM earn your business. Let THEM know that you have check in hand and ready to make a deal but don't expect any more problems! Don't settle for anything else but what you and your wife really want. SHE has to drive it and you don't want her sitting at the traffic light and look over at the lady in the QX56 wishing that she had one instead of the Armada.

Just my .02

overdalimitThank you for the feedback... I did end up getting the QX56. getting it from another dealership was always an option, however - the second nearest one is if about 350km from my house (thats about 3.5 hour drive) each way. There is is only one dealership in the city here...

I decided that like you point out, to get what we wanted - I will have to trust that the dealership will be better to deal with - they did ultimately step up and give me what they had originally committed to me;

As a side note, I had learned that the dealerships manager has a 15% bonus that is awarded for high client satisfaction results. As a result I now have the ability to influence 15% of the manager pay if they don't hold up there end of the deal.

Plus in Canada, the Infiniti head office pays for loaner cars and similar solely based on client satisfaction scores int he service department. At the end of the day, I will will be using the tools I have to influence for good or bad those two details. Hopefully they understand that - and will never drive me to the point that I will have to do that.

I'm looking forward to the arrival in March of the QX56 I ordered... Hopefully its not as big a gas guzzler as I'm thinking its going to be!

Well, to be honest with you, it is a guzzler, but I feel it is worth it. I have been getting about 15-16mpg in mixed driving.

sorry for the confusion there... I stated I would go with the 2011... True 08 09 is exactly the same... probably the suttle diffs and tech diffs, but I like the 06 07 how they hav the navi screen which is exposed from the dash and it gives it a command centre like a big O' space ship style while the newer had the in dash navi... correct me if im wrong.. I havent seen the 2010 model in person, but i think they took away the wood grain standard steering wheel as in the 06 07 in the 08 09 and Im assuming the 10 since you said its the same....

Well, I got got a call from the dealership and the QX is being loaded on a train this week, its done at factory.. and I should expect it middle of Feb now I'm told... good news I guess... I didn't need one until June, so March was already ahead of plan, now its a month and a half ahead of even that...

They said they will hold it for me until end of march, but I just don't want them to be tempted to use it for test drives, and stuff... so I may just pick up the car when it comes in...

Now to clean out the garage so it fits next to the other two... where to put the junk? they don't let us put any sheds of similar on the properties in this neighborhood so this will be interesting...

Congrats on the good news! I really don't think you have to worry about the dealer letting anyone touching your ride until you pick it up. I had the same situation when I bought my '09 Murano, the dealer held onto it until I was ready to finish the deal. It only had 8 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. Enjoy the new QX56!

She's Arrived....I dropped by the dealership to check out the Silver QX56 I ordered, and its in good shape; They are doing up the paper work and stuff... the dealership I guess is pretty busy as it will take until Thursday for them to have enough time for me to drop in and sign and pick up the car... and thats without them doing any of the cleaning and stuff to the car!

I will post some pics of of it when i pick up the car at the new Hyatt Infiniti dealer here in Town (they have a very nice new dealership now).... and a few more picks once it lands in my garage and the guy I hired to do the cleaning/3M has a chance to work on it...

That is great news! So did you still get a great deal on your QX56? Did you actually have to order it or is a vehicle the dealer had coming on order anyway?

I like the QX56 (I had an '04), but I really could not justify the additional price when the '08 models were updated (the interiors are identical) and that is why my last vehicle was an '08 Armada). Now, I picked up my 2010 Armada Platinum last week, and this is REALLY just like the QX56. Chrome rims, chrome molding and roof rack. Only thing I am missing is the I-Cruise and the Xenon headlights (although I already upgraded my Armada lights to Sylvania Silverstar Ultras). I like the Infiniti stitching on the seats in the QX56, but I LOVE the Platinum stitching on the seats in the Armada, and I am a huge fan of the "contrast stitching" on the Armada (I have stone, and the stitching is dark gray/black). I was able to get my Armada Platinum for $44,000 with a 75,000 mile Nissan warranty. The other drawback for me with the Infiniti is that the closest dealer is about 2 hours away, my local Nissan dealer is about 10 minutes away.

The Nissan does not require premium fuel, and on top of that, if you want, you can run ethanol in most Armada models.

Of course I also did the simple mod of allowing my Nav screen to view the DVD's at all times. I replaced the stock air filter with a K&N filter as well.

ENJOY YOUR NEW QX56, POST SOME PHOTOS!!!!!!!

I managed to Snap a few before pictures today; The guy that was coming to to prep the car didn't make it last week, as his car broke down, and now he is coming at the end of the month... so the after pics will have to wait for then...

I got around $3000 off... Which wasn't bad. They also managed to get 2.9% finance by the time I picked up the car so that saved me some bucks so I just did that with them too. In Canada you can order with only with you choice of color and 7 or 8 passenger versions. The 4x4 and all the other features are all standard. I think in the USA you can use a 2wd version and stuff... but they only offer the 2 models here of 7 vs 8 passenger. So the dealership already had one on order and it got allocated to me, and hence it was exactly what I wanted.

I will try and get around to posting the before pics soon.
