Just a thought>>2JZ

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

The motorset of a 2jz is cheaper yes, but with automatic trans. Then you have to factor in clutch/flywheel and sourcing an R154. The next thing that ****s you over(depending on which way you go) is the damn mounts and downpipe, other than that...price is equal as far as parts. In the end is where your price tag shows the difference.

jrkpgc10_07 wrote:Listen..with no need to explain.. This build of a 2JZ in an S14 is one the best well round builds thats out there.. I mean pound for pund..parts/money/end result.. sorry 2 say but besides the LS1 build the 2jz swap is the best swap out there.. I can get parts HERE.. easy @ a dealer, dont have to wait or look for parts. I mean u can get sr parts, but not without some serious searching if new 2 sr's, and face it.. and rb is gonna run u some MONEY.. more so then a 2JZ..plus y build an sr or a Ka-T which BTW is so superior, when u can have upwards of 800 horse.. plus dont know about u guys but I want my RB in a skyline with AWD.. str8 sexes are THE strongest motors. and face it...we all know the reputation about a 2JZ.. soo for those of you who say,, ur a traider,, or sell out.. ILL see you @ that light..Only owned nisssan my entire life,, Nissan 4 LIFE..
All this talk about engine's. . .Yes, 2JZ could be the cheaper of the two with more h/p - but how well do the 2JZ swapped 240's do at the track? Is there any record of one being at a track?

IN NO WAY AM I KNOCKING ANYONE WHO WANTS TO DO THIS SWAP. I think its an AWESOME swap. But I don't feel that it would be the best track worthy kind of car (seeing as you would be making 800+ hp)

And the RB has been proven at a track. Yes, price may be different, but there is so much more stuff about that kind of build. Theres more people who have done it - which means there is more information and how to's and what nots about the swap.

Yet again - I would never knock anyone to do this swap - as at one time I thought about it.

um are eople forgetting you can get 800 horses outta a rb25 and 26 so idk y they make it seem like the 2jz is more power they both are the same type of freakin engine made to copmpete against each other. i think its cool to have a 2jz and def a lot of work which i respect i am just sayin rb cheaper more easy it is a nissan engine going into a nissan and more cooler sounding. Hey what cha got in there? oh just a skyline engine lol.

i feel like this is becoming a 2jz vs RB thread...

in any case. parts availability for the 2jz gives it a huge advantage over the RB. What can you do when you walk into an autozone.. uhh yeah i need a timing belt for a '95 Nissan Skyline GTS-T.. the 16yr old kid is gonna be like.. wDF!??!? when it doesnt show up on the comp

im not bashing on rb's bc ive considered it as well. it's just that practical part availability gets blown out the water due to the fact that the 2jz motor was available here and the RB was not.

furthermore.. i get a lot of respect from old toyota mech's who've never even heard of a skyline. Supra i think is a more household name considering it was mentioned for a good half of F&F and skyline was only shown ... at the beginning of F&F 1 and 2.

Dont mean to have that corny as s reference.. but assume the door to the lamen import community was opened through those movies.. even tokyo drift.. never was it mentioned that that was an RB from a skyline that was in that S15 and rustang. Unless you knew what it was. I'd have to say maybe 85% had no clue. And that's being generous.

800hp on an RB25 is doable yes. You can achieve 800hp on the KA if you wanted..

pound for pound.. RB's and 2jz's are built to take beatings. RB25 tho should be compared to teh 1jz and not the 2jz however in terms of equivalence.. due to displacement class. 2.5 to 2.5 . RB26 is more in the class of the 2jz.

In terms of internals.. 800hp on an RB25 would not be as reliable as 800hp as a 2jz. IMHO. And if you break it.. you'll be sourcing parts or ordering parts online for days..

anyway im just saying that the 2jz is more practical bc of parts availability. If ever something goes wrong and i dont know how to fix it.. if lets say i brought it to a shop for it to get done.. chances are they've never worked on an RB bc it was never available here. i dont want to be put in that position.

anyway yeah.. thats enough from me. my $0.02

parts availability is a huge facto rthati understand.

even for the sr buying part requires searching what kind of car had the saem parts and then ordering them and hoping they fit.

Here's a runing s14 with a 2jz.. this does not mean everyone will run the same but anything can be done with enough time and money. Everyone needs to realize that not everyone is the same. What might sound like a tought job to one person can be a piece of cake for others.. Take me for example I feel pretty confident to tackle any wiring job. But I do not like to deal with the heavy stuff like taking a motor apart and building it or welding and making speacial brackets and mounts. Can I do it? yes, do I have the source to get them done cheap? yes. Its all about everyone's confort level maybe someone who can't do any of it would rather pay whatever amount they think is reasonable and see it as a bargain. I currently have an rb and I encourage anyone who wants to take the time and do something diferent. If he's looking for 2jz info give them just that, don't try to change their mind into what you decided to go with. I've thought about alot of other swaps for a 240(vg30et, vg30dett,vq35, 2jz, 1jz, 20b, lsx) and they all have been done already. In the end just answer yourself 3 questions1 What is the car goin to be used for?2 What's the horsepower you want to achieve and what does it take to get you there?3 Do you have the funds to answer the 2 questions above?

I'll get back on topic http://youtube.com/watch?v=wKwdnllvB9Y

sleepy u make very good points and i would agree with everything u said except i would say anyone thats not a ricer knows a skyline is just as much a freakin legend as a supra i believe more so the GTR anyway. Also wasnt it a black top s15 in the silvia on tokyo drift? i thought i heard them say that, but it sure didtn look like it your right ill have to downoad the movie and check
