You wanted yes or no answer, so I didn't say much, but...It's not a good idea to mount 245 on 7 inch wide rim. You will have a huge bulge. I recommend this. Take your wheel to local tire shop such as Discount Tire and ask them to show you 245/16/50 tire. Put them together side by side and see how they'll look together. This is my set up. 17x8 +33(w/5mm spacer) and 235/40 17 tires. I didn't have to roll the fenders, so I'm pretty sure that you don't have to either. Trust me. You better run same size tires all the way around. 225/16/50 all the way around sounds much better to me, and most people will agree. Do not order tires now. Take your time and do more research. Why don't you ask for pictures in 240 gen forum. Someone might be running that set up. Good luck!

92_240sx is right about the 245/50/16. If you still want to do it you would be better off with a 245/45/16 instead unless you want that hot rod taller rear tire look.

(225)(0.50)=112.5 mm side wall thickness(245)(0.45)=110.3 mm side wall thickness(245)(0.50)=122.5 mm side wall thickness

Notice how the 245/50 will have a 1cm larger radius so the overal diameter will be 2cm larger.

Go for 245/45/16 all the way around if you really want 245 tires.

ok so if I run a 245/45/16 I should be fine then and there shouldnt be a buldge. And why do you recomend that I run the same size all around?

.......because the wheels are the same size all around, right?

no, you dont want 245's, period

at most you should run a 225/50 or 215/50, but your best bet would be a 205/55/16

Ok I understand and im taking in all the advice but the thing is why? I mean I really appreciate all the answers and suggestions, but Im the type of person that likes to learn . Iv been searching a lot but I really cant find out why? Is it cause the tire is too big for the rim, bad handling, or it's just plain out point less on that type of rim? But I kinda made up my mind any ways to just put 225/50 in the back and a 215/50 in the front . And once again thank you very much for all the input .

the tire would be too wide for that wheel, it wouldnt feel good

as a basic reference point, stock wheel is 15x6, stock tire is 195...for every half inch you increase wheel width, increase the tire by 10mm's

eventually youll figure out how to judge tire size yourself, but this is a good starting point

also why do you want to have a larger rear tire? just run 215 all around

I was planing on trying my hand a little autox/drift and some one recomended that I get the rear tire wider then the front tire for more precise controll. Im not sure if this is 100% correct but it did come from a pretty relaible source.

Thanks.

If I were you, I'd run same size tires all around and use coilovers, sway bars and other suspension components to achieve the goal. No point staggering tires on same size wheels.
