Try to avoid a 45mph drift into the curb. Wheels and suspension in general DO NOT appreciate it that much...

Holy hell.

THAT has done some damage. Better get that car on a rack and see what else is bent to hell - Could even be into the subframe, or worse, the unibody.

I don't see the issue. It looks like the tire is holding air like it is suppose to.

First, the airless tire. Now, the centerless wheel.

And that must have been the most well constructed curb ever. My S13 coupe just went up and over the one I hit sideways at 30mph+.

Unibody is actually fine. suspension is totally deciphered.

How the tire didnt spontaneously explode is a mystery

Certain areas in Northern VA and DC have like 7 inch high curbs. Speaking of northern VA, anyone been outside? it is Absolute Corona weather....

Well you are living in a nazi state, might was well make the curbs like the Berlin Wall.

And way too hot out there, but inside Corona sounds good.

It will be like freedom for you. VA car laws are crazy to the rest of the normal US (cept CA of course).

Thats not true as there are tons of cars with after market exhausts on. Hell I've had them on 3 cars and never gotten a ticket, and believe me i've been pulled over tons of times. I have the tickets and driving record to prove it haha. However if you have some stupid ridiculously loud one you can get a noise ordinance violation.

You've been lucky then. I've had many friends traveling and living in VA that have had exhaust tickets, one friend sold his S13 for a Z because of it.

There were hundreds of them written in '05 at NOPI Bristol for anyone that went over into VA that Saturday night.

Granted they usually only give tickets to 4cyl import cars with cans (of course a truck and other cars can get away with it). But I know you can find tons of people on vadriven and lookout that have had exhaust tickets.

Just Google "VA exhaust tickets" and view all the carnage.

That has to be one of the most damaged wheels I have seen and I have spent many years working with highline body shops. I have seen them bend and break but never like that. It is all in the angle of impact.

The spokes are the weak point in any wheel when it comes to offset impact. Interestingly enough the often mocked Eagle RSA was not damaged in the impact but the subsequent movement after the collision destroy both the left side tires. This particular incident caused more damage in the rear.

I cannot get into specifics of this case but the first supplement has almost $4g in damage and it might increase after I do the first alignment and component replacement. The car will be as good as new when we are done with it.

Body repair work always tends to look bad then it gets much worse then it's better. The initial damage is usually pretty bad, the initial analysis and beginning of the repair process are worse, then it gets paint and QC and returned to the customer. The whole process has come a long way from the body work I did a long time ago in the sticks.

An example of the getting worse I enjoyed while at Mercedes' bodyshop was cutting the sheetmetal off of a brand new CL600 and completely stripping 3/4 of an S. The end result was always the bare frame of the car. Now a days they remove the welds and supporting braces, replace and reweld them. The experience can be a nightmare to some if the work is performed poorly and you get one chance to get this right. I cannot stress picking the best body shop/repair facility your insurance will cover.
