So yesterday my housemate danica (not her real name) went out to take her bf to work. Our other friend was over that day with his motorcycle and they both left together. She was following him and driving a little 2f2f. She really is a good driver, has a great feel for the road and her car's physics (drives a 2007 wrx, so maybe it's more the car) but is a little nieve in the other aspects of driving. For example, we've had a good amount of snow/icy weather a few weeks a go so she still had her blizzaks on the car. I've been telling her for weeks she needs to put her new wheels/tires back on but i guess she's been busy.

Anyway, she takes a downhill sweeping turn way too fast, finishing up passing my friend on his motorcycle (trying to rub in the fact that her car is quicker then his bike). Although she rarely drives this spirited, I imagine the wrx could have handled it if executed correctly with the right conditions, but it didnt go that way. She braked waaay late while in the turn and started sliding (its a quick downhill left hander into a slightly banked wider downhill right). She's probably taken that turn at that speed before, just forgot she wasn't on the best tires for the mistake she made.

Car spins left, she corrects it but she's already into the downhill righthander. A little bit of an overcompensation to turn into the right and the blizzaks cant hold anymore. She went off the road sideways crossing the other lane at about 70mph, passenger side wheels lifted about a half a foot off the ground while going over, taking out 2 or 3 [->] signs on the way over. Theres about a 2 foot drop into a rock filled ditch on the other side of the road which she flies off the road into, completely airborne. Two rolls later the car comes to a stop. on the wheels (luckily).

Everyone made it out of the car okay with minor bumps and bruises, super lucky considering how worse it coulda been. Car, however, was totaled. Just wanted to remind you guys know how easy it is for something unexpected to happen and how important it is to keep up on your vehicle's roadablilty.

Be careful out there.

Not to be a bastard or anything, but keep that stuff on the track!

Driving like that on public streets is a big no no

I completely agree. I feel partly responsible, the other night i was doing a little playing around in a dirt parkinglot after we went for a jog by a deserted park. Her friend said he wanted to see the wrx do those cool spin in place donuts, and she said "hell no". I told her the rex was sad, and you could see it crying from the lack of fun it has.

Sometimes people don't relate spirited driving with driving recklessly. Yea donuts, drifts in parking lots, 180s are dangerous, but i think whats more dangerous is fast but (in control) grip driving on winding roads. The speed amplifies the danger.

regardless, driving like that is irresponsible. no excuses.

yeah, very true. It happened on Stewartstown road, near W run. I always reconsider bringing the 240 here... so many pot holes! Here they don't actually fix anything, just put up signs saying "rough road"

I would think a bike would be quicker than a WRX..

That sucks about her crash though. Now.. speaking of tires.. I really need some new rubber as well.

Everytime Ive been in Morgantown the roads did suck, also the dudes always walk around chests puffy and running their mouths about everything they can possibly think of. Havent been back since the last show I played up there. I have friends there, just no desire to go back.

Where i live in the past two years over 15 people my age have died in car wrecks. Some i knew and some i didnt. One that I did know was on the way to a baseball game with some friends when they decided to go over "thrill hill". they jump a 4 runner doing about 90 and lost it and rolled and hit a tree. All three died and Beaver was the only one alive when the paramedics showed up and he just said his name and passed.Another guy i used to go to school with was with some other people 6 months before Beaver died and he was thrown from the car. The last time he talked to his friends and anyone else was him telling jokes with his torso sticking out from under a taho.Drive safe. And if u dont follow my favorite quote... Be smart about doing stupid.

i was sitting shotgun btw. i received a broken leg and my friend sitting behind me got a broken pelvis and tailbone. took them an hour and a half to get me out of the car, they were 5 minutes away from amputating my foot off. the driver and my other friend sitting behind the driver walked away from the accident. It was really scary and made me realize how dangerous just d!ck around in a car can be.

haha, hey, i'm one of those jersey douchbags. just kiddin'I'm from south jersey, its completely different from the north jersey you're talking about. I've moved around a lot though, i dont really think jersey influenced me that much.

and hey, the few of you who have been through morgantown, or at least drive through more often then not, I've probably seen you. There really arent too many 240's around here.

I only know of 3. A white one thats up behind the mountain lair, and a red sr swapped, and a tan s14 with black painted stock wheels.

stupid?....no they were some of the nicest people you could ever meet wait untill you wake up one morning to hear your wife, kid or BESTFRIEND died in a car accident! its not the fact if they were stupid, its the fact we could all learn from it and drive safer because your loved ones are always worried about you and if anything ever did go wrong it hits them for the rest of there life man!

I havnt seen the tan or white one. There is a green zenki with some turbo setup, a stock red pignose (dude works at Octane), and a black s13.5.

Speed doesnt amplify the danger, driving like a jackass does!

well, driving like a jackass only ups the probability of a crash. Velocity exponentially increases the kinetic energy (ke=1/2mv^2) of the crash, thus amplifying the danger. haha sorry, too much physics studying this week.

btw, that tan s14 i mentioned is actually an off green color. I saw it parked at the rec center today.
