well, i had the intention of posting pictures of the balljoint swap process, but that was until I prematureley yanked out the cf card from the computer, thus wiping out all the photos i took...
i'll go through a quick run down of what i did.
first off, take this
and throw it in the trash
next thing you do is buy one of these
1. ok now jack the car and remove the wheels to get to the rear lower control arm.2. remove the two bolts from the rlca as well as the nut from the rear sway bar...this will allow you to lower the rlca to get to the balljoint without having to remove the entire knuckle assembly. 3. unscrew the nut of the balljoint until it is flush with the top of the balljoint's bolt. (you may be able to remove it, but i couldn't on mine)4. now, adjust the ball joint separator to fit into the space between the rlca and the knuckle assembly (this was a tight fit for me, but just enough room)5. pop off balljoint from the knuckle (and finish removing the nut if you didn't do that from step 3) and pound out the balljoint with a hammer. 6. install new balljoint (i bought moog ones) and work backwards to install everything back onto the car.
kinda cool too with the moog ball joint is that it has a valve you attach on for the grease at the bottom...first time i've seen that.
oh and sorry but no pictures of my smashed finger. it's healing quite nicely now so it won't satisfy the appetites of people looking to see some gore...i'd like to add though that a bellhousing assembly from a motorcycle is friggin magnetized so don't use your finger to hold the washer in place while someone else installs the cover back onto the bike...yes...it smashed another finger for all who wanted to know.
hey 94_240sx that puller tool is gi-normous! yes and i have to agree that having the proper tools makes life soooo much easier!
