Hey I'm new to this so this is my question last week I did a burn out in my 2010 Nissan altima sr and then after that I noticed I have a delay in power when I press the gas pedal now the other day I was pressing gas and I got no revs from the engine so I took off the negative terminal and put it back on it came back good then I put the car in drive and it goes no where when I press gas. So I checked all the fluids and I see small metal shavings on my dipstick what does really mean I hope not that my cvt transmission is dead?

Which dipstick had them? If it's the transmission one then yeah, cvt could be toast.

Sounds like your transmission has failed. It'll kick a code to the engine and prevent power. I bet you have a code in the system for a 1777 or 745. If there are any metal shavings in the oil then it's a dead trans. There is no rebuild, the system operates around 900psi and the springs holding the primary pulley are held in over 800psi. They don't even allow us Nissan tech's to do anything but a valve body or replacement unit. How many actual miles are on your car?

The only available option is factory, roughly 2100 for the unit it self, I just did a customer paid CVT in an 09 and it was $3,700 after labor and taxes. How are they saying at 12,789miles your CVT is out of warranty? Is this a wreck rebuild vehicle? Through 2010 they were covered for 10yr/120,000 miles.

It's a salvage title vehicle do you think I would have warranty on it still ?

Unfortunately a salvage title automatically exempts a vehicle from it's powertrain warranty. Even the extended warranty on the CVT becomes exempt. The CVT is non rebuildable. You could get a unit from LKQ or another salvage yard as long as they don't butcher it removing it. And it'll have to be initialized to your vehicle after installation. This is to tailor the TCM to the Transmission, this removes the solenoid amperage values learned in the TCM. Looks like LKQONLINE.com has them around $1,000 plus shipping. The install labor is are 13hours.

Yeah, LKQ is the best route to go if you're wanting to save some $, they offer 6 month and 1 year warranties on the transmissions they sell.

Are you talking about a TCM Module? If so then I'm leaning towards no. It's never recommended to use a used TCM. They save variables that are tailored to the transmission. These can be cleared but I'm not sure I'd risk a used trans and a separate used TCM.
