Well I already have the rb's little brother in my car I.E. the CA..... I was wondering about the size of the rb20 turbo, is it a t3?? And anyways I'm really leaning towards the rb20 I like the motor and it fits my budget!! I was going to purchase a motor set this summer when I get back from school, anyways I was planning to build it up over the next year or too..... What things should I look at replacing in particular, I already know timing belt, and water pump, and all hoses. Another question is where should I get the motor from... I had the unfortunate pleasure of ordering my CA from Osaka..... Long story short never again! And this crank collar issue..what is that all about? Thanks ahead of time for the answers please don't flame me to bad!!!!

Im sure its because most of these questions can be answered in the facts section. Not to mention theres probably 20 threads on where to buy engine swaps from. So you have to understand that people arent going quick to repeat themselves over and over. Try checking those places first. Im sure youll find the answers your looking for/

-Since im in a good mood-

First off, replace the regular maintenance stuff, like you said. Timing belt, water pump, tensioner/idler pulleys, fuel filter, spark plugs, and fluids. Changing the oil pump is a big headache, basically because of the crank collar. If u are not trying to rev out the motor, or keep very high revs for sustained periods of time keep it stock. (oil pump and collar)As for where to get it from, try Jhot, they are respected with the rb community here, and have very competitive pricing. And as for the turbo size, its weird. Basically what you need to know is it is junk if you want more than stock power, since its ceramic the most you wanna safely boost it is right around 14lbs. That is good for around 240hp with supporting mods. If u want more power than that, buy a different turbo. If u want any more answers, or a clearer response. SEARCH! The info is there, i swear.

both rb turbos are garbage. Ceramic blades limit your boost. Save your money and get a real turbo.

the rb20 runs a t25 and the rb25 runs a t28 and they both run about 7psi stock but as far as the rb25 pulling so much harder than the 20 isn't that true because my rb20 keeps up with if not pulls just as hard as a stock25 done it plenty of times but if you want 300whp just get a beter turbo (not the 25 turbo unless rebuilt with steel fins) im told you can get the rebuild kit for like 250 bucks run like 15lbs and tune it with a front mount because you can run 14or15 on either of the stock turbos but they will not last long at all

Well I'm not buying anything like that off ebay ever..... I do want to keep the oe look basically, what turbo would get me there a gt2817r or just the rb25 turbo rebuilt would do the trick, I've rebuilt plenty of turbo's so I don't mind doing that actually I enjoy it... anyways how would I get the steel impellers on it, instead of the ceramic ones?

it's pissing me off everytime i see misinformation. RB DOES NOT HAVE T25 STOCK, SO SHUT ABOUT IT....both the rb20 and rb25 have a hybrid t28, with a t3 foot_print on the exhaust side. the rb25 turbo is just newer. both motor have some turbo that are ball-bearing and some are thrust bearing, depends the model printed on the turbo. the ball-bearing spool faster. both will take 15psi, but not very long. the fins are very brittle, high velocity will basically shatters them.

Ive been looking at a few different turbos for my drift 330-350 whp set up on my rb20. Your best bet would prolly be the gt2871r .64 for quick spool but I have also noted down the t3/t4e 50t .63 and a GT30r or maybe even one of the holsets either the hx35 or hy35 check it out. I will most likely just save up the money and buy the gt2871r even if it is about a grand

So none of you guys think that if I were to buy a rb25 turbo rebuild it, and see if I can find some steel impeller wheels I could get to around 300rwhp?? With other mods.....

it's a possible option, but turn out to be impractical due to the final price, which equals to buying a new larger turbo. especially the ball bearing version of the rb25/20 turbos are more expensive to rebuild.

I have a bored and built rb25 turbo myself that has gt2871r internals in it,The rebuild was about 800$ US but I bought it second hand for 600$ with 12k on it.....this turbo made 450whp at 24psi on an rb25.

I'm hoping for 350whp at 18psi.

Well i am going to be doing a swap in a few months and since you are all talking about turbos and related things. Where can i find intercooler piping for the swap into an s13, or can you just use the one thats is made for the r32 rb's, or does it have to be custom made?

Thread jacker..... JK you can buy a xs power kit for a skyline, and it doesn't take much to get it to fit, but you will need to find a hot pipe, anyways, I will hopefully be buying a rb20 this summer, any ideas on where to get a tubular manifold?
