Is there any emissions junk I can remove from my 94 quest to simplify, unclutter and maybe free up a little more umpf? Also is the screen that’s inside the MAF sensor really necessary? Won’t I get better air flow if I remove it?

I'd imagine that any screen around the MAF sensor is to help prevent damage to the sensor should any larger particles manage to get past the air filter, but I haven't seen one in person so I'm not quite sure of its exact setup. Airflow should be more than sufficient with the screen I believe (else why would it be there from the factory?), and any difference would probably only be noticed at wide open throttle anyway.

I don't have very much knowledge when it comes to emissions equipment. Since a '94 Quest isn't ODBII, you have less chance of the ECU complaining about removed emissions components. I think removing catalytic converters is illegal in all states and you can be fined for it, so be aware of that.
