I found this in the yard I usually go to, but this time I brought my friend and ended up finding a lot of interesting things sitting in parts of the property I never took the time to explore.

At first glance I thought this was a Toyota Land Cruiser, and I was pretty surprised when I raised the hood.

Even though it had obviously been sitting for decades (?), it looked like it would have started up and ran without too much effort.

TX has some retarded law where once a vehicle hits the 'yard it cannot be re-titled (even with a salvage title). So yards won't sell unless you find a way around. Some take bribes, others will let them go if you find a way to take it in pieces... It's not an exact science.

It would be shady to put this one back on the road since TX would never issue a title for it, would have to VIN swap or find out about kit car registration laws.

....Or you could buy it, "sell" it so me, I could get it titled in TN, and then have title transferred and re-register in TX?

I can ask the guy that runs the yard (he's pretty cool) if he would sell the whole thing for anyone else interested, but I have too many projects ongoing to be able to afford the time money and space this thing would cost. I'm not sure if you could bring the car over to your state and try to register it (pretty sure they will run a search on the VIN and show that the state of TX owns the title and it is non-renewable) or try to get a bonded title.

Chris, if you can get some parts off it for cheap, I've got someone here with a Patrol who needs some stuff.
