I am going to be picking up another Q45 as a parts car for another project I have going on. Basically all I'm going to do is be ripping the engine out of it, and a few other random parts, and then junking the car. I didn't even want to get a parts car, but rather just the parts I need, but this was too good of a deal to pass up.

Last car I had sent to the junkyard, I had to have the title in hand, and in that case it wasn't an issue.

In this case, I'm never going to be driving the car. With that being known, I'd really prefer not to have to go through the hassle of having the car titled and whatnot, if I don't have to. To make things slightly more complicated it's going to be an out of state car. Every time I've titled a car, I've had to pay for registration at the same time.

Any suggestions on the best course of action?

Off the top of my head...

1. You could always donate it to an organization that accepts non-titled cars, and take the tax write-off. Some of them will tow it away for free.
2. You could park it on the street and report it abandoned... ;)
3. If there's a monster truck show coming to town, and the body is still intact, you could donate/sell it as a prop, it'll crush better without a motor in it.
4. You could write something that stirs anger in large letters like "I love Congress" on the side and sell sledge hammer whacks for $5. You'll make several hundred bucks in minutes. Then do #1 or #2

I like number 4.

What has always worked for me when I am done with a parts car is to put it on Craigslist in "cars and trucks" with the title "ATTENTION SCRAPPERS." In 3 hours I have an inbox full of emails and in 10 hours I have 200-500 bucks in my hand and a vacant spot in the driveway. As long as it rolls, a guy in a tow truck will show up to take the heap away and give you a couple hundred bucks shy of recycling it yourself. If I have the title, I give it to them. If not, it doesn't seem to make a difference to them. There really aren't any risks of a no-title sale since it won't be road worthy anyway.

I talked to a friend of mine at work, and he said that as long as you have the title in hand, you can scrap it. The main thing I didn't want to do was have to title the vehicle in my name then scrap it, that would waste a lot of money.

Oh hell no.
I never register/title a parts car in my name. A BOS is helpful if you get a picky scrapper, but they usually do not give a damn.

As much questionable business as my local hillbillies do around here, I doubt I'll encounter a picky scrap yard.

FWIW, I just checked a couple of big car donation websites and they both accept vehicles without titles and offer free pickup, plus receipts for tax writeoffs.

Usually no.

In Missouri you can title a vehicle without registering it.

Jesda's correct. They'll literally take 'em in any condition, with or without titles. They simply scrap the bad ones. But there are plenty of these organizations out there, many of them charities.
