2006 IMPORT vs. DOMESTIC, BROUGHT TO YOU BY WINGED WARRIOR AND NICOCLUB!
You've heard the rumors, you've been excited, and now the info is finally here... I am very excited to introduce this meet, as I am EXTREMELY excited about how this will unfold.
When: June 3, 2006
Where: Anderson Municipal Airport, Anderson, IN Anderson Airport282 Airport RoadAnderson, IN 46017
Cost: $5, see below.
Event Info: This event was started in 2002 as a small fundraiser for Riley's Childrens hospital in Indianapolis. Today, it has gotten much larger, and over 5000 people are expected to be in attendance....
There are no direct costs, no parking fees, no fees to race, nothing. However, NICO is officially sponsoring this event to ensure having ample parking for our members. With that in mind, we are asking that each car donate $5. This will go directly to them, no money will be kept by NICO. NICO is getting very VIP treatment from our friends at Winged Warrior, and I think it would be very nice of you to donate that small amount of money, which goes to a good cause. Where else can you see a full day of racing for $5, PLUS hang out with all your fellow nissan/infiniti enthusiasts? Yeah, didnt think so!
The actual event consists of a full day of racing. 60 imports and 60 domestic cars, with 5 alternates in each category. Those cars will be broken down into 6 groups of 20 cars (10 from each team) grouped by anticipated performance and rotate between events. At the end of the 6 events, the winning team will be announced at sundown and the individual winners in each class and each event will be awarded. The top 5 cars from each team will then compete in a secret showdown event under the lights for even more prizes.
Also, 60 cars will be chosen to be judged only in the car show.
Each entry will be selected based at the discretion of the event administrators. I would HIGHLY recommend that you get your entry in EARLY to maximize your chances. Yours truely has already been selected to race his 1994 Q45
The Winged Warrior Performance Challenge 2006 will consist of the following 7 events:
* AutoCourse (an autocross with both low and high speed sections) * Skidpad * Drag Race * 0 - 60mph (timed on the same pass as the drag race) * Slalom * 100mph - 0mph Braking * Car Show (performance cars will be scored, but their show score does not affect the performance challenge results)
OFFICAL RULES: CLICK HERE for Adobe PDF
REGISTRATION:
If you would like to register your car, fill out the following form. Everything you need to know is there. REGISTRATION BE SURE to remember to put NICO in the club affiliation. It is important to note that if you are posting this on other forums, they still need to place NICO in there to be identified with our group...
ALSO note this will be a weekend event. We are going to plan on having some sort of get together possibly with a BBQ on friday. HOTEL information is being sorted out right now as well as other semantics like that... More information on that will come later.
Just remember WHY you are here. This is a non profit event to help the Children's hospital. This is not a hardcore racing circuit, and everyone will leave with a smile on their face.
EDIT 5/28/06 PREMEET INFO:
The tech will be done Friday starting at 3:00 PM, at MUNCIE DRAGWAY!!!(20 minutes away from the Anderson-Darlington airport) I got the track for us, and only us from 3-6PM to do some "heads-up" drags. Each car will get their 3 passes, and each car will get their 0-60 MPH times also!!! I really appreciate Roger at Muncie Dragway for helping us out on this with such short notice. They are also prepping the track for us. (Guess the burn-outs are OK now!)
The tech will be done there. If you want to stay and race (AFTER we get your times for this event), you can, or you can just stay and watch some great drag-racing action!!
If you are not able to make it at that time,(3-6) we can get you in for your times during Saturdays events at the strip, OR squeeze you thru friday evening. They are there LATE on Friday. You have different options to do, but we can get you thru.
Then Saturday, its business as usual on the tarmac at Anderson-Darlington airport. (Huge autox, Skidpad, and HUGE car show)
The tires you use at the strip, ARE THE SAME YOU USE SATURDAY!!!
