an absolutely immaculate 1990 Cressida with 83k original miles. black on black (super rare according to the cressida kids)

and surprise surprise the motor is junk.

not sure what direction this project is gonna take. i already have 1 over the top car, i dont need another. its gonna be a daily driver but see track duty sometimes. My s14 is gonna be on hold for several years while im in school

This thread is silly and misleading.

You should throw on a life vest and snap a pic, Joe.

DO a 1uz dude.

It's gonna be fun and super reliable at the same time.

heres my list:

1jz:
pros: easier, far less custom work, better long term potential, that sweet sweet turbo i6 noise

cons: intercooler piping, engine runs hotter (worse for track), heatsoak = loss of power.

1uz:
pros: another v8, sounds kickass, kinda rare, super strong engines

cons: NO aftermarket support, custom fabrication needed, stock engine might not be enough for me.

First is not a con, fab is fun. As for the second:

So what, you won't be happy with an intake, exhaust (both of which are gonna have to be custom anyway), and maybe some nice internal stuffs? They do make that stuff for that motor.

lol yes fab is fun, but i already have enough fab work to keep me busy. i want a DAILY DRIVER lol

my racecar is for the heavy work. this is going to be simple but still want a dead nuts reliable low 300whp.

Alright, look... It's roughly 260 hp/tq. A few bolt ons will get you to that reliable 300hp easily.

But you know what? You're so resistant anyway, so WTF am I even trying. Good luck with whatever.

whys that funny to you?

im not some 16 year old magazine racer.

a 1jz will do 300 on stock everything minus a fmic and tune.

a 1uz will probably require cams or those sexy sexy itbs.

this is a debate. not about you just saying "this engine" and then laughing at me when i give reasoning for other things. this is my project not yours. i have enough major fabrication work on my plate at any given time to have that bug taken care of. i dont want 2 overly built cars.

I'm just putting this out there but why not just keep the original engine and just rebuild it. Everyone does a jz swap with these cars and no one reallu stays with the 7m to keep the car old skool, which is weird considering the 7M is a very good block with a ton of afermarket support, plus the parts are cheaper. If you rely want it boosted just source a 7M-GTE from a mk III Supra and build that. 7M's sound pretty damn sexy especially with ITB's and a screamer pipe.

2jz? So much for weight distribution. I vote street port 13b or F20c w/turbo.

And what's wrong with the 7m? USDM POWA. Headgasket issues are void with a thicker metal one.
