Hi All. New to the forum.

Anyways. My 2008 Versa (CVT) turned 60,000km the other week. It is mostly highway driven.

All of a sudden as of late the car is jerking, and the RPM jumps approximately 500-1000rpm every 2 or 3 minutes on the highway and make a high pitched engine noise, and the car jerks forward.

It started at 130km/h, and is now starting to do this frequent RPM jump when in cruise at 120.... 110.... 100... and even 90km/h. And most of the times when the accelerator is pushed the car will jerk and the RPM will be abnormal.

I am unfaithful that the nissan dealer will be able to diagnose the problem immediately as it took 6 trips to the dealer to get them to fix the remote entry system.

I guess my question is. Has anyone else experienced this jump in RPM? What was the problem/solution? Am I alone with this issue?

Later,Jack

I'd find another dealer . . . especially since you're doing a bit of driving anyway.

We've got three CVT's with lots of highway miles and have never run into this. I agree, see another dealer if you have to, but get it looked at.

Thanks. Was just wondering if it was common... or a rare case.

Have found a new dealership to take it to... brand new dealer.

(I also made a video of it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBl1r3igBLY)

Nissan could not figure it out. Had the car in the shop for 3 days until they decided to change the transmission.

That's right... transmission cannot be repaired. Must be replaced.

Pathetic!

It's easier and more cost effective now to change the whole transmission than take it apart and repair it. Plus you get a fresh unit with zero miles vs. one new part and the whole thing with 60,000 kms (based on your YouTube video). Besides, it's under warranty and shouldn't cost you anything to get a new transmission.

Was this the dealer, or Corporate Quality, that asked for it to be replaced? "Nissan" is a pretty broad statement term.

Once I get the info I requested from you, I'll get some people looking into it.

you bought a used vehicle and who knows how the PO treated it . . . you are getting a new transmission under warranty . . . and you are complaining?
