Alright my sr has been running like *** ever since this morning. Every since i had this sr it sounded like some valvetrain noise. I took it home and pulled the valve cover. I noticed that the top tensioner was missing and it looks like it jumped some teeth. Just wondering how to get it back in time and the procedures on how to do it. thanks

Is that at TDC? If it is then you did jump a few teeth. Don't pay attention to the chain links, those are just to help with the initial timing and move around after that. I usually count teeth on the gears to do the timing. Intake is 5 teeth clockwise from the head surface and exhaust is 9 counter clockwise from the head with the engine at TDC.

Yes that was at tdc. But also a guy was just telling me that nissan has a recall on the upper chain guide? He said that they were deemed unnessesary and should be removed because they fall off into the front of the engine. But my chain has some slack in it because it is missing that and thats probably why it jumped 2 teeth...

BTW i have been trying to search for some stuff but ever since last night it says the server is too busy, and to try again later.

I would also look at the timing chain tensioner, make sure your guides are not broken.

Looks fine to me...

I ditched that upper guide, it just makes noise at startup.

Have you checked ignition timing, and make sure all injectors are firing?

I pulled the tensioner out. There is a crack around the housing. Ive already ordered one. Also is it possible to jump a tooth on the crank gear?

your timiing is fine if you turn your motor over a fewmore times everything will line up.. you have to be at tdc on compression stroke

You shouldn't be able to jump teeth on the crank pulley since there are tabs on the timing cover which will not let the chain fall down off the sprocket far enough, unless someone broke them off.. Try spinning it over a couple time and see if the links line up, and everythings in the right place..
