To the NICO crew,

If you remember, earlier this year I participated in the Cruisin' Towards Cures for Campers Muscular Dystrophy Association benefit car show. In July, there is a summer camp the MDA puts on, and the following is in relation to that.

I have dates for the start of the MDA Summer Camp Bike, Car, Truck and Off Road show for the campers.

They call it the “Miracle Ride” which started out in the beginning with Bikes doing it all.

My hope is to have a parade of vehicles going down I-74 to I-55, headed just north of Bloomington, IL to Lake Bloomington for the first day of camp to welcome the campers.

I was asked if possible to see if we could find some (25 -30) cars to join in.

If you know me, if we can do something good for kids, we do it BIG, so I am asking all my friends to join in and bring your Bikes, Cars, Trucks and if you can Off Road Vehicles (I’m hoping for a Monster Truck also) along with a $20.00 donation for which a lunch will be provided.

This will be on Saturday July 13th or Sunday July 14th of 2013 so you can make plans to let these children see your pride and joy in a large open field.

Please contact me with questions, and think of the sheer fun of the line of vehicles as we take turns leading the pack on this trip there and back.

When was the last time that many have traveled for a good reason and good time?

I'll be working closely with dad on this as well, gang. We're not asking for any kind of help, just some cars, trucks, bikes and bodies willing to help out for a cause.

Wish that was possible, but no the “Cruisin’ Towards Cures for Campers” car show is Saturday June 15th 2013 in Champaign, IL, and the “Miracle Ride” to open their summer camp is Saturday July 13th or Sunday July 14th as they still need to pick an opening day at Timber Pointe Camp north of Bloomington, IL. It would have been nice to be able to have you and Greg and Neal, Kanae and their family at one or the other. I would have given Neal “Clare” for that whole trip to show and do like it was theirs.

I will check on car shows in the area for the time you are here so depending on your time you, Greg, Neal and Kanae will be able to cruise the shows, if any.

Looking forward to seeing you and Greg again.

Interesting... I'm always down for a cruise. Can you provide more information on exactly where, what time and distance of the cruise?

In answer to your question. From my house in Galesburg, IL to the camp at Lake Bloomington one way is about 100 miles, give or take. The place is called Timber Pointe Camp, just northeast of Hudson, IL. which is on RT 12, just off I-39 north of Bloomington/Normal, IL

Pop,

I should have said this when I was talking to you on the phone, but I didn't think about it til after we hung up.

I see you getting really involved with this and it just makes me very proud of you. I hope this works out as well as you hope it does. I'll do my part to help out where I can.

Love ya, pop!

HERE IS THE UPDATE!

WE NOW HAVE THE DATE FOR THE FIRST DAY OF CAMP!

So, if the idea is still a good one with you, the day is Sunday July 14th, 2013 and it should take us about one and a half to two hours to get there from Galesburg, IL. If you are leaving from elsewhere please figure the time in, but do know, we would love to have you join us at some point to have one long a** parade going down the highway.

And this excerpt is posted on the Cruisin' Towards Cures for Campers facebook page.

I know that next show season is the last thing on everyone's mind at this time of year. BUT......it is official!

Summer camp will start on July 14th, 2013. I am sure that you are all wondering why this is so important.

One of our participants from this years show has came up with the great idea of being part of the "Miracle Ride" that is held the first day of camp. The local MDA office has approved this idea. Mark Hartman will be in charge of the first ever camp car show! For more information check back here or on the show website. More exciting news to come soon about next years show!!! Mark your calender now June 16th, 2013 same place same time.

Neal (Gold Digger) and I have also created a FB event page as well. PLEASE help get the word out!

Also remember there is a manditory $20 donation minimum, but more is welcomed, if so desired. If you have a facebook page, swing over to their page and like it to learn more and to keep tabs with what's going on.

Please be sure to read the opening post of this thread for the information and RSVP to this thread with questions or comments. And remember it is all for the Campers(children).

Ok. It's now just shy of two weeks away til the Miracle Ride for the MDA Summer Camp.

As some of you may know, it seems that there has been a change of plans regarding one of the other people that plan this event. It seems he is now doing the bike day on Saturday the 13th. That doesn't change this event. We're going to keep it on Sunday the 14th.

Remember, we're looking for cars, trucks, bikes, hot rods, monster trucks, whatever...We don't care. It's about showing the kids some cool rides.

So, get your wheels ready to go. Engine bays will be on display, so make sure they're nice, clean and sparkly. Well, maybe not sparkly...

If you have any questions about this event, NOW is the time to ask. I will be leaving from Galesburg, IL in the early morn, so we'll need to know where you'll be coming from to organize where you can all meet up.

There is a Facebook Event page that Neal has put up. If you've not been invited and want to, I'll post a link to the event page at the end of this post.

There is a flyer posted a ways down the event wall. Save it, print it. Hand it out. Get the word out. We need bodies!!!

There is also a map on how to get there a little farther down. You should also be able to find the location on your navigation or Google maps.

Please post a comment on this post to let us know if you are still coming or not. If your plans have changed and you cannot make it, be sure to let us know soon.
If you're invited to the event page on Facebook and are a "Going" or a "Maybe" please be sure to change your attendance to "not going" if you can't make it as soon as possible.

Thanks, Gang!
