So i am new to the whole performance side of vehicles, and i guess that its almost a for sure fail for a cvt to fail if turbocharged. But the jukes are turbo cvts as well, and come like that from factory, can anyone explain why the 1.6 in the juke can be boosted safely to factory 20psi (according to forums) but the altimas cvt cant handle 5psi without a critical meltdown? Lol some food for thought

While I cannot confirm the PSI on the 1.6 Juke, the answer is simple...the power output of the turbo and the CVT was designed to work together without issue. The CVT's on the 4/6 cylinder Altimas were designed specifically to handle their specific naturally aspirated power outputs. Moreover, adding a mere 5 PSI to a vehicle with a typical 5 speed automatic transmission can cause it to fail prematurely too. The typical geared transmission is equally as "fragile" as a CVT in many ways. :yesnod

I have a 2013 Juke Nismo as my daily with AWD and the CVT. I do love it as a daily. It is quick but it is not fast. It's all about the power and more-so torque output. I would venture to say that the Juke Nismo probably puts down around 160-170whp, at least from things I've read.

seldomseen kind of got at this in that the turbo on the Juke is strapped onto a 1.6L engine while the CVT on the a/c's are on 2.5 and 3.5 engines which have more power.

I also know that A LOT of improvements were made to the CVT on the Juke. I've actually heard of guys getting up around 275whp safety with it. But I'm sure if you were to go much past that you might begin to see issues. I believe once you cross the 300whp threshold is when the CVT begins to not be able to handle the power. Speaking from personal experience with having the 08 3.5 CVT boosted that is.
