I just read that the Nissan Juke is AWD will come with a turbo and will develop 190hp.

It is 15 more than the Rogue and it is ligther. Also, I think they said it is the 1.6 or 2.0 turbo, so probably more fuel economy...

So

Hope the Rogue 2011 will get a lot of modification because the Juke seems to be a class over...

It may have more HP but, try fitting two adults, two kids and two dogs in a Juke. Not gonna happen. Then there's the premium fuel requirement for the turbo.

If Nismo was going to boost the HP on new Rogue, it would lose its fuel economy and raise insurance rates. That would simply take many of us out of the pool of potential Rogue buyers. Yes, I'm a tree huger and wouldn't consider the Rogue if it had worse fuel economy.

That said, I like the Juke and will check it out as soon as it hits the showroom. It's nice to finally see a Japanese make put out such a loaded compact. It's just a different car that fits a different market. There's no need to redesign the Rogue because of that.

Your right, but not totally.

My dad have a A5 (2.0T) and the mpg is way better then my Rogue. Generally, turbo can can have pretty low mpg.

It's a 1.6 turbo 4cyl with direct injection and an intercooler. The European specs say 190PS (metric HP) or 187hp (SAE) and 240Nm or 177lb/ft of torque. This is not very far from the specs of the QR25DE used in the Rogue... just a few hp and lb-ft.

The Juke is also also a fair bit lighter at 1383kg or 3048lbs for the turbo model + CVT.

So yes, the Juke might be a tad faster than the Rogue in terms of all out acceleration.

I don't see Nissan upping the HP in the Rogue for 2011. There isn't much more that can be done to the QR25DE... short of dropping in the Sentra SE-R Spec-V motor and that does not seem likely. A V-6 is out of the question as the platform was never designed for it... not enough room.

An interesting side note, the Juke will have the first turbo motor Nissan has imported to North America since the 1996 300ZX TT.

And Versa owners are already salivating at the prospect of dropping this motor into their cars one day...

What I like from a turbo car is that you can really more fuel effeciency if you ride it smooth. i.e. On the highway, you can drive just before the turbo start, so you will ride with a 1.6, pretty kool.

This car just keeps getting more intersting, and to me, if I was a part of the design or marketing team, I'd be going for unique and interesting because mid-size cars have been very boring (for the most part) for a long time - go Juke go!! Mazda did a great job capitalizing on the boring competition with their "zoom zoom" campaign and well made cars with great styling and fun to drive dynamics - the result was the Mazda3 has dominated for years. Now the Juke builds on that and I'm really interested to see how the powerful Turbo will do - my guess is the Juke will do really well and the Turbo Juke will be a niche' sucess too -

Hey, maybe the Juke is a good candidate for the next-gen tuner crowd? Altima's and 240's are cool but maybe the Juke is just exciting enough to suck some new car fans in and if the aftermarket recognizes the potential it could be a fun tuner market...or maybe I'm just out to lunch and the Juke will be just another grocery-getter...but I doubt it!!

And Semitone, you said it perfectly, the Rogue is in a different class and even though the Juke Turbo will make better numbers, it can't compete with the Rogue's utility, space and comfort, and that's ok. But it's all good stuff and if you're in the market for a smaller crossover other than the Rogue the Juke could be a home run!!

Harryg,

That's the Qazana concept car that the Juke is based on. The suicide rear opening doors did not make it to the production version. The Juke has conventional opening rear doors.

So is the majority of cars out there!!!

I remember when I first got a new 1990 Pearl Glow Maxima. It had 160hp and it was more than adequate on the highway. I had one memory while driving to DC where me and a geo prism were going at a fairly high speed and I couldn't lose them. I was not racing or anything, it was just me driving fast and they could easily keep up.

I theorize this to it being a lighter car which is why it had no problem keeping up with my maxima. The Nissan was a fairly fast car, but I had the GXE instead of the more sports oriented SE.

My point is that the Rogue is lighter than most SUV's ( actually its the same as a typical mid-size sedan ) which means it does not to pull as much weight as other bigger vehicles which gives it quicker acceleration.

If you go to youtube you can watch videos of it going 0-60 in 8 sec's and being driven at 120mph (on a racetrack of course)

Having a turbo and more horsepower is irrevelant in MOST normal everyday driving because the power of the rogue is more than adequate in most conditions before a point of diminishing returns comes into play such as mileage, cost (use of premium fuel), speed( how much more seconds do you really need to shave off from your 0-60 start time by getting turbo or more horsepower?)

I don't mind this stuff if I was a racer in my 20's or in the fast and furious tuner crowd. Catch my drifter? ........like the pun? Never did understand that, unless you trying to protect your friend from a ninja assassin....umm you had to see the movie.

But I am in the Rogaine and Viagra Crowd!

The more advanced engine technology isn't the only thing Rogue's little brother has on it; I'm actually more interested in the operation and programming of Juke's torque-vectoring AWD (compared to the Rogue's more simple system, which does not have any direct control over torque delivered left/right).
