My Rogue 2009 SL FWD is 10 days old and has 350 Miles on it now.

Overall I am very happy with it. On the first tank I got 24.8 MPG (100 % City Drive).

A couple of points though

1. When I change Gears ,I experience jolts which I find a bit unusual. The way they go are P to R --> Slight Jerk R to N --> very Light / Subtle, Cant notice at times N to D --> The Jerk is strong enough to shake the car D to L --> No Jerk L to D --> Again No jerk D to L --> The Jerk is strong enough to shake the car

2. A subtle rattling /Sewing Machine like noise specially when the car is not moving example Parking Lot or signal.

Are these normal ? Is it me (or my lack of experience with CVT) or is it just Nissan Rogue?

Thanks

Ash

I would definitely call your dealer and have it checked out...also, check out the transmission rattle thread.

That is NOT normal. When shifting into gear there should be no severe jolt, it should feel exactly the same as any car with a conventional transmission.

My advice is to take it to the dealer because this is definatley not normal.

If you're feeling this jolt in cold weather after just starting, that is because the engine is on high idle until it warms up. This would produce a jolt when going into gear.

A jolt is abnormal, you should bring it in to have it checked.

Thanks Everyone.

I spoke to the dealership. They feel it may be due to high idle RPM. I will take the car to dealership in a couple of days.

My rogue is in the process of receiving a completely new tranmission due to a bearing type grinding that was coming from the transmission while moving in D between 1-3 mph, take yours and have in checked
