So it is Father's Day!! My husband loves his new R2C intake. For those of you who don't know...I am Joe603's wife  and I created a fake handle and posted "what intake to buy for Father's day" to get his final pick of an intake that he wanted. It wasn't easy but I would like to thank Sean (g_whizz) and Michael (red_det) for their help in this process. Although I didn't purchase the intake from Red he was very helpful and really tried to get me the intake that I wanted. The surprise went off without a hitch! Here are some pictures from this morning (he didn't want me to post the video)! :rotfl

Glad you got what you needed. I see he took no time at all to install it.

Well she got me...told me that she hadn't bought my gift yet and needed to go to Target last Friday. Not only did she surprise me with the intake, but she also bought a front chin spoiler which I have to go pick up at the dealership! (they are clearing out/discounting add-on parts for the 2009 and earlier models).

Anyway, on to the intake! The quality is much better than I was expecting. For my last G, I bought a JWT popcharger with a Z-tube. The R2C is 10x better in build quality. The heat shield is pre-assembled and made from high quality rubber and plastic. The filters and intake pipes are also high quality with perfect welds. Fitment was spot on. The kit comes with a section of hose for the CCV that replaces the OEM one. Finally the sound was awesome! This is how the G should sound from the factory! Felt a little faster, slight bump in the mid-range RPMs.

Just wanted to thank Sean and Michael for helping "mich"!

It was more: holy crap, you lied and said a Target gift! So surprise/disbelief/happy all at the same time.

Yes, the sound is REALLY noticeable after 2k...really loud at WOT. Like I said, 10X better quality then JWT.

I guess I will take "sneaky in a cool way" as a compliment? LOL.
Sean, don't let him lie...he just stood there in disbelief with a big goofy grin on his face!!! Then he accused me of lying?? :wtf2:
Joe works very hard and helps me with our little girl a lot; I thought he should get a gift that he deserved/wanted. I guess this sets the bar a little higher for next Mother's day....now doesn't it Joe?????? :naughty:

Thanks for the screen shot Sean. However, I have been with this man for 15 years and he is not stupid. This is how I see next Mother's day playing out in my head.... he will decide to "take a trip" like he said and it will even be for some cultural experience. We can always run for the border and end up at Taco Bell.

Joe -

Since you obviously installed it on Sunday (Father's Day), how long did it take to do? I have been thinking about doing an intake as well, but I hate spending all damn day under the hood. I'm sure it doesn't take that long, but you know...just curious.

BTW - Kick a** gift! Looks great too! I gotta show my wife, and let her know I just have nothing else I can think of for my b-day !! ;)

Took about 2 hours under the hood with 30 min of prep work/going over the install manual. Really easy install though. You may be able to go faster, I'm overly cautious with my brand new car...

Here's a tip...when you pull the OEM intakes, pull straight up. There is a air inlet that connects to the filter housing. It's only held on by plastic tabs. I thought I missed a screw because it didn't just come out. Next, when you pull the passenger side, there is a strange looking, plastic "C" tube that's not re-used. The bolt holding that on will not be re-used either. And finally, be very careful with the MAF units. They are delicate and not cheap if you drop it.

Thanks for the reply! I don't think I would go any faster either...since I love my baby too.

I don't know if I can wait until August for my b-day... they may have just made another sale!
