I'm looking for some suggestions on suspension components (coilovers, specifically). What I'm looking for is something that would provide great handling with not too much ride discomfort (for daily/aggressive driving), and would also provide a decent setup for the occasional drift session. I'm looking primarily at Tein HE coilovers, they seem to be perfect for my purposes, but another coilover that's come to my attention is JIC's entry level SF-1 (primarily because of the price :)). I've searched and found a couple posts in this forum about them blowing; is this a common thing? Do they have a bad reliability record? Also, what's the ride quality like; are they stiff enough for things like drifting? Keep in mind I'd also have the supplementary suspension mods in place as well (tension rods, sway bars, aftermarket bushings, etc).

Any help would be appreciated :)

(oh yeah, almost forgot: Supposedly the Tein HEs will just barely clear stock wheels/tires on S13s. I have 225/50R15s on my 92 240SX, 20mm wider than stock, and stock wheels; would I be able to run the Tein HEs on these wheels and tires with a simple 10mm spacer?)

there is less than 3mm of clearance with my 205/60/15's on the front. Also the tein HE's ride sort of harsh becuase of the pillow mounds. They transmit a lot more "boom" into the car that the stock upper mounts. The ride is rather nice though.

I dislike JIC, TEIN has always been my preference for a decent priced coilover...

So would I be able to run the HE's with some 10mm wheel spacers, since I have 20mm oversized tires? Common sense tells me yes, but I want to make sure...

OH, and isn't that clearance problem ONLY in the front? Could I just run the 20mm oversized tires in the back and not have to worry about wheel spacers??

a guy at a motorsport shop where i live told me that JIC is cheap and they break easier cuz there made in Tiawan. but i'd get the HE's if anything. My friend has them and there great for everything u want.

Yeah, that's what it looks like. I think I'm pretty much set on the Tein HE's, they sound perfect ($1200 brand new isn't bad at all, either). Just gotta worry about fitting them.....
