JGY Customs has a new ka intake manifold that looks like a greddy sr20det intake surge tank welded to a ka upper manifold that's been cut short. Has anyone tried out or is planning to use this new manifold? What do you think it'll do for performance on a ka24det or n/a ka?

wonder tho if this allows you to use the greddy cold pipe for their intake mani? nice premade polished aluminum piping aint bad

with the whole thing polished up or powdercoated it would look alot better

damn.. i'm with bigk on this one.. you could hack up a greddy knockoff and weld to the ka flange for way cheaper...which is all they did, and call it their own.

Wow, that manifold looks like shizz. Silicone couplers would look better than those welds.

$150 IMO.

A more appropriate way to do that would have been to:

Hack the runners off a little further out (where the plenum tank would connect) and fab up a couple plates to match. Cut out the runner section from the plenum (lengthwise) and weld in one of the plates. Weld the other plate to the ends of the runners, then bolt the two together for a nice clean two-piece setup without those nasty welds halfway up the runners.

i hope that that is just a prototype or something to that effect as those welds look piss poor IMO.................as for using a knockoff greddy and hacking that up to use with our intake mani, well are the runners the same inside and outside diameter? i would think they would need to be for that idea to work...................

Stay away from JGY - the owner is shaddy. This is based on two personal experience with the shop that went wrong.

I mean the owner asked if I wanted to step outside...

Seriously the guy behaves like a 16 years old.

And this is a half assed job.

Look at the welds -- and the runners lol their size don't even match....

There is another KA mainfold that seems like a much better option :http://www.xcessivemotorsports...tep=4

Showed up to their store about a year and a half ago for the first time. They are a good 1:30min away from where I live and I am looking into getting some coilovers and suspension bits...So I give them a call on friday and nobody answers - Answering machine:"our hours of operation are from blabla to blabla".So I get in my car go there.Keep trying to call them and leave messages on the way there.

Get there - about to open the door and they have a sign on it saying their hours of operation have changed - and that they are closed.

So I'm like whatever Ill just come back later. But my roomate notices that two persons are in there - so he knocks on the door. They come by us - look at us throught the glass door and keep moving around in the shop. So I try to call them - I can hear the phone ring - in front of them - and they are not answering.

Now that bogs me very much. SO Im like wtf Ill never come back to this place(in my head)- about to leave when the sheriff shows up.

Well that is wierd - tries to call them -- they don't answer - they pissed the sherrif off : he is like : "bah don't worry about it just a bad buisness...".

Anyway the sheriff goes talk to them explain them the situtaion. Still don't want to talk to me.

So anyway we left...

About a year later I show up there with myother roomate - decided to get a VLSD and I didn't feel like getting it from ebay and going with the trouble of not knowing where you got it from.

Get in talk to the guy he seems nice - goes and gets me one - the boots dont look to good so I ask for a different one. Brings up a different one without complaining - then when Im about to pay I ask if there is anysort of warranty - such as if its busted you do a gesture towards a customer or something like that - and that is where the dude freaked out.

Asked me if it was me that came about a year ago. Sure it was why ?

And he says : "Well do you want to step outside to talk about it ?"

At this point I was more like WTF is wrong with this dude...So I (20years old) had to reason a 30 something dude that wanted to pick up a fight with a customer that came with 500 dollars in cash in his pocket and that person being me.

The guy behaved like a 16 years old.

Anyway paid my part (yes I did do that wich I do regret now) and took off.

Always wanted to let others know about that storry but never felt it was appropriate to do so on Nico or any other forum.

Lets keep this thread about the intake manifold please...If you guys want to bash JGY in another thread, go ahead.

Here's somthing ALL of you guys aren't considering. The intake surge tank costs money, the upper intake costs money, it takes time to machine the pieces to fit well and it takes time and skill to weld them together and have no disturbance with the intake air velocity. I'm not even saying all this has been done, but how many here can do it? I've been welding and fabbing stuff for a long time. It's alot harder then one thinks, especially aluminum. If you have some spare time, grind down the welds on the runners and polish the whole ting up...it'll look sweet after that.

Personally, short runner intake manifolds aren't somthing I agree with for our motors. Granted, the design for ours isn't the best, but it's a traditional long runner, which is great for low end torque. Somthing a 4 banger needs, especially when you're not revving the piss out of your motor, which is where the short runner makes its power. A new manifold isn't worth anything to me without side by side comparisons on a dyno. I could slap a mani together in a weekend if I wanted to, it would look sweet to, but probably wouldn't actually work worth a crap.

I was looking at Mani's last wk or sometime and read somewhere something negative bout that manifold ... might wanna do a search on here (NICO) about it cause that's where I found it ... don't quite remember the issue though.
