Did anyone here ever notice the JGTC GT500 GTRs got a VQ30DETT? Down half a liter in displacement, but its got two turbos strapped on... I would look to this to be the next GTR engine seriously...

Yeah, but I'd be willing to bet it gets a VQ35DETT.

The only reason they used a VQ30DETT in JGTC is because they are limited to 3.0L. Also, I have seen the VQ35DETT listed *many* places as the next GTR engine.

And the VQ30 wasn't made up just for the JGTC. VQ30DE's have been around...they used to be in the Maxima before the VQ35DE.

The RWD 3.0l VQ was made by Nismo for the JGTC. Just because all your friends tell you to jumping off of a building is a good idea, that doesn't mean it is.

There is no 3.0l displacement limit. Where did you pull that from? The Honda NSX motor is is the C32B 3.2l V6 and the Supras are running 5.1l 3UZ-FE V8s. The only limit is when it comes to the motor is 500BHP.

I'm sorry, I swore I read that somewhere for the current rules. Maybe I was thinking of something else.

As far as Nismo making the RWD VQ30, I understand that. I was simply pointing out the fact that the VQ30 block was designed prior to the R34 JGTC car. Nismo didn't destroke a VQ35, they just turbocharged a VQ30.

VQ30DET (one T)

Like the Top Secret Japan Skyline featured in the May 2002 issue of Super Street Magazine? (See. page 94)

Or maybe it was modded...

As for the Stupid Street thing... If it was a white V35 with white TE37s then that car has a VQ35DE that has been turbocharged by them.

everyones mixing up articles, hopefully i dontthe option 350z was in superstreet, they listed the engine as a vq30det, im pretty sure it was a typo because the motor is 3.8l and thats a huge increase in displacementi think its just a vq35de with upped displacement and single turboed which sounds about right for a car built for top speed.i dont know if top secret still ahs the white G35 but now they have a black one and my friend that was there said it was a twin setup and so is their third 350z, the widebody.

The option 350Z was indeed a VQ35DE stroked to 3.8l and boosted...

What they wanted was a less peaky engine with a much wider powerband and torque curve.

That is true the Nomad Diablo JGT1 and the Yellow Corn McLaren GTR are both GT500 cars. The Vemac RD350 in the GT500 dosen't use a C32B NSX motor. They use a 3.4l ZV348 motor. The Vemac RD320R versions in the GT300 use the Honda C32B motor.

Did anyone notice the GT300 Mosler MT900R that is powered by a 6.2l LS-1? The Viper that is in the GT300 is rated at 300BHP@4000RPM... Vipers can rev much higher than that, the car has many wheight penalties...

The Celicas in the GT300 are 3SGTE powered as well as the MR-S cars. The Silvias are SR20DET powered. The Endless Z is VQ35DE powered.

i belive all the silvias were stroked to 2.2 liters, or at least Tomei's car is.

Not all Silvias have been stroked. Some stayed a 2.0l, while the Tomei car was at 2.2l (no longer runs in the JGTC). The C-West Autostaff Advan Silvia is currently at 2.1l. The engine however is still a Nissan SR20DET. The GT500 Supras 3UZ-FE engine is at 5.1l, while the stock motor sits at 4.3l. The Vemac RD350 uses a Honda C32B that is upped to 3.5l, hence the RD350.

That's old news. The speculation about the next GT-R engine has been pointing to a VQ33DETT.

The 2004 Nismo GT500 class Z33 uses a VQ30DETT just as the 2003 BNR34s did.

Where did you hear this? I have never heard anything about a 3.3l motor...
