Ok, so I get up this morning to head to work. I need to use the defroster because I had some frost on my rear window.. push the button to activate the rear defroster and the "Orange" light didn't illuminate. The Hazard lamps still work and the clock works as normal.

Is this a bulb issue or a wiring issue?

I had pulled out the compartment to check out the harnesses and they are all connected properly and fully seated in their spots.

Its not a big deal, but Im more curious as to how I would know the defroster is still functioning.. I just spent $200 to get my car straight again and now this little problem happens. Its not really the end of the world, but just one of those damn if you do damn if you dont situations.

If anyone can let me know anything that would be cool.. Its a 98 Maxima SE

thanks

I hate to be 'that guy' but .... did the window defrost??

Or at least does the rear window get hot? If you are handy with a digital multimeter you can check for voltage on the inside of the car. Just touch the driver and passenger side bars with the leads and see if 12V is present (when you turn it on of course).

Thanks, I was in a hurry when I made this post.

I might as well add that the rear defroster did work as normal, the light just never came on so I questioned it. Im guessing the defroster kicks off automatically at a certain point.

just to be 100% Ill bring my multimeter with me tomarrow and check it out

I appreciate it

The rear defroster shuts off automatically after 20-30 mins on the 4th gens. It's just your bulb that's out.
