Well last night i was parked for a few minutes and when i started accelerating the car started jerking kinda like if you never drove a stick before. It does it only the first couple seconds of accelerating but no more after or while driving. It doesnt do it every time i accelerate, it did it last night, i drove it this morning and it didnt do it, i drove it just a little while ago and it did it again. All my fluid levels are normal, the car starts up right away no problem and it idles normal. I just changed the distributor cap, fuel filter and tp sensor and spark plugs. I know my transmission shifts pretty hard or harder than normal anyway so im not sure if i need to change to filter. I was thinking of changing that anyway along with the ignition wires, o2 sensor and maybe throw some fuel injector cleaner in it. Would any of those help? or would it be a something different?

Is it jerking when you shift between gears (up/down, doesn't matter) as well? My car does this same thing, but only in cold weather until the engine warms up.

So, is your issue continuous for as long as you drive the car, or only for a little bit?

It's an automatic but no it does not jerk when it shifts gears, I guess it does it more when its warmed up i want to say because it didnt do it this morning when it was cold. And yes it does it the whole time i drive, but like it said not everytime i drive it. The last probably 5 or 6 times ive driven it, it has done it probably 3 times.

does it do it when the car is pulling (as if it you give it throttle to make it downshift, like when going up a hill)?

I am having this exact same problem, fine in the morning, but once it warms up it acts like you describe, it also randomly dies on me while sitting at an idle, and even sometimes while just coasting once the engine is warmed up, I can not figure out what is wrong for the life of me

First post and this my prob too...just got a 96 auto..cel came on within a day or 2 a friend cleared it, inspected it , and it passed fine, ce light came on the next day..it cut off in a big intersection, but started right back up...seems that after about 20 minutes of riding around it starts bucking/jerking like its cutting on and off for about 1 second..took it back to mech with the cel on and he said it showed nothing wrong! He'd never seen that before!..if I let it cool down for 30 minutes or so it works fine..if Im driving and it does it , I can throw it into neutral and it revs fine while coasting?..back into drive and it starts bucking again...anybody fixed this problem?...I let my niece buy my 02 from me (it was easier, trust me) and found this 96 model, it has 210,000 on it...Thanks for any help...Rog
