For 2014 the 470-horsepower, all-wheel-drive Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8's have a Launch Mode. The whole word, "Launch," appears on the button, along with the awesome depiction of a drag strip's starting-line lights, aka a "Christmas tree." :picard:

To activate, Jeep's instructions say the SUV must be stopped on a level surface before fully depressing the brake pedal - while in Drive - and then pressing the Launch button. While holding the brake, mash the accelerator pedal to the floor within a half-second and the engine will rev to a predetermined rpm. Once the engine speed is up, all the driver has to do is lift the brake and the SRT8 launches perfectly every time.

Love the comments...
"If you want to drag race, why buy a Jeep?"
"oops. Thought LAUNCH was the ejection seat button for my wife. Pushed it and she was still there. . . damn."
"Too bad Chrysler doesn't have a button for "don't break down all the time"."

Why do you need launch control when you have a torque converter? How the Hell can you POSSIBLY screw up a launch with a slushbox?

Doesn't seem like big news. A lot of exotics and near-exotics have a Launch mode.

Why? because we live in a country where folks blame their cars for "unintended acceleration" when they stupidly stomp on the wrong pedal. ;)
