Hey guys I have a JDM S13 vert and the roof doesn't work at all and i'm wondering if they are the same type of setup as the 240 verts and maybe someone has an idea of why it doesn't work??

the way the jdm model works is like this:

1. push roof button on dash (little light should come on
2. release roof via lever next to boot lever
3. push cover button that sits behind the drivers seat
4. push up/down buttong to retract roof

Now I think thats how it works but i've never had it working so dont know.

The whole electric process doesn't work for one the first button on the dash doesn't turn on which i'm guessing is the safety button so i'm thinking thats where the problem lies.

So does anyone have an idea of what could be wrong and try lead me in the right direction??

Also the roof needs to be replaced and will cost me about $2000 AUD to get a brnnd new one made from scratch so i'm wondering if anyone knows someone first hand that has tried to fit the 240sx replacement roof onto a JDM model as it will work out a hell of alot cheaper??

Did you check the fuses first? I think in the USDM FSM it says to check fuses, if not then check for voltages at the buttons, then at the motors I think

The two tops are nowhere near the same.

US-spec 240sx convertible was a leftover coupe, modified by ASC. JDM models (Variettas) were designed by a completely different company.

i'm sure you;d probably have to wire it through a resistor, but couldnt you try wiring power directly to the top motor.

just have to check the voltage/amperage it takes so you dont blow anything.

Just thought i'd update fixed the retracting problem the switch wasn't getting any power so just wired a new ppower source up to it and now works fine.

The top is also getting replaced in 2 weeks time and costing a max of $1000 through this guy I found :)
