JDM Transmission

Hi guys,

Anyone have any experiences using a JDM transmission? auto or 5speed doesn't matter

My auto trans was slipping before I took it out and I really don't feel like paying $1600+ for a rebuild.

I got a TT 5 speed with my JDM swap, nothing really wrong with it, just dirty. I replaced the seals and it runs fine, 4th scratches sometimes but that's when i try to shift on power.

I was thinking about getting one from JDM Engine Depot its gotta be cheaper than a rebuild

I would.

2 experiances:

1) 1991 mr2 turbo bought a jdm manual transmission to replace the abused oem unit. JDM trans was the best investment i made on that car. OEM trans was open diff..JDM had LSD, that was really cool.

2) Bought an Aristo front clip with auto trans, pulled the auto trans off and inspected it, no leaks, everything spun as it should, then i sold it. Never heard back from the guy so i imagine it worked perfectly.

Too bad japan got flooded and most of their "stockpile" was destroyed. Most importers are't getting in what they used to before the tsunami. Mostly half cuts now.

Sounds like they aren't half bad. Too bad they only sell JDM TT autos... I'll have the get my Z1 driveshaft shortened I suppose.

On a side note, does anyone know if I can use my auto NA transmission controller unit with the auto TT trans?
