I am looking into getting a jdm analog climate control. does anyone know if they are plug and play or what is required to make it work. I have heard it is very difficult to make the digital work, that is why i am going with the analog.

Theres an older analog one that looks like our USDM ones.. w/ the sliders and everything but has an "auto" feature to maintain a temperature... then there is also the newer one that's full digital..

FULL DIGITAL(?):

STANDARD USDM:

The "analog" JDM one.. cant find a pic.. but it looks like the USDM one, except for the fan speed has an "AUTO" setting and it shows the temp (celcius) printed where the blue - red bar is for temp control..

isn't the JDM analog different from the USDM? instead of having "cold -> hot" it's numerical in centigrade also on the left side of the unit, not on the right. Some of the buttons are different too. that's what I can remember off the top of my head. They might be the same, but can't really say since I haven't dealt with those.

I have a JDM analog control. I bought it off ebay for $40, but soon after I got my front clip and it came with a digital climate control. Since I have the dash harness it wont be too hard for me to swap eveything out to make the digital one work.

I have never tested it, but i did have it plugged up. It does have the harness and it will connect up to the USDM harness, i think there might me a couple wires that u have to splice into though to make it work. I never got to test it b/c my car didnt have a battery when it came in the mail.

If you want to take it off my hands email me and make me an offer. Also all the buttons are on the opposite sides and there is an AUTO button instead of the "foot and defrost" button.

I know what the older JDM analog one looks like, i have one in my house right now. my question is though, since the JDM analog doesnt have the sliders and UDSM one does, is it hard to make it work

I think it involves something similiar to the all digital one, but im not 100% sure. Too know for sure I'd need to see a working JDM car or a front clipwith that kind of climate control in it. If it is like the newer digital one, then it will have a sunload sensor to help with that auto function, but I really don't know if it does since mine was all digital too.

i was told that in order for the digital climate controls to work, you need to have the HUD cluster, which makes the whole system compatible, otherwise they dont plug and play. Just from what someone said, not what i read or learned.

nah you don't need the hud. my clip had the digital climate with the analog cluster. I think it's just a matter of having the extra sensors for the digital if you want it to work. I saw alot of extra crap flying around the back of the digital stuff and didn't want to bother with extra wiring headaches.

well, the only problem I see, Is that the vent slider is mechanical no? As in you move it w/your own fingers. So for the digital to work, I'd imagine some electrical motor or actuator would have to do the work...

If you have a front clip, the servo motor that controls the heater pull cord comes inside the dash. You also have to add the sunload sensor from the front clip and change out the ambiant temp sensor. Other than that there is 2 wires that have to be spliced into somewhere on the harness.
