This is a nice little forum on Nico. I just found out today. I've been into Japanese metal for a long time, and I wonder if any Niconaut is into it. I like these bands.

I live over here and hear those names all the time.

For me, though, I like listening to the lyrics as well as the music, so since I can't understand enough Nihongo to make any sense out of it, I don't listen to it.

Although, I do know that Loudness has recorded a couple of albums with English lyrics. There was also an American guitarist that played with them for a while, but for the life of me, can't remember his name.

X Japan was a great band too.

That's cool man. It was a vocal Mike Vescera with Loudness. Last time I heard, he was with MVP(Mike Vescera Project). People don't like his voice though. Here's the video of him on TV.

Man, I've never heard of them. I got into it back in early 80's, so I'm pretty much old school. They sound like new age/punk metal to me. I'm more into something like this.

Don't get me wrong. I'll still listen to new stuff like Luna Sea, Siam Shade and Galneryus.

Recently, I'm into this guy.

This is the video I ran into. He was 20 when he released the album for this song. It was pretty good since it had a little bit of everything in it like Yngwie, Impellitteri...etc. I like this kind of playing style BTW.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xy7bOAzq_24

And I saw this video. There's a great depth to it. I know many Japanese guitar players, and this guy comes on top. Check it out. You won't regret. This song gave me a chill when I first saw it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wBmIp1-CVY

And one of my favorite J-Metal bands released a new album!!! I really like the melody.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yPItUafdpE

I used to be really big into J-Rock, though I was more of a Malice Mizer guy myself.

I've heard some Japanese Black Metal too, a band called Abigail. But honestly, there wasn't anything spectacular or interesting about them. Just standard black metal.

Just checked out Malice Mizer and looks like they are one of those visual rock bands. Sorry, but they are kinda weak! I want something like this from visual rock band.

I just check them out too. Yup, it was just standard black metal and sorry, I'm not into it. I just can't stand harsh voice.

Anyway, thanks for telling me those bands. If you have some more, let me know.

To be honest man, I haven't listened to J-anything in probably 4 years. And when I did, I was more into the pop side of things. Malice Mizer wasn't really "metal" but I liked their sound. It was an orchestral/classical sound with enough of an edge to it keep it from being too boring.

Matter of fact, I still keep my Ayumi Hamasaki discography up to date and current in full 320kbps releases. I have everything she has ever released. Every single, album, remix album...even her pre-Avex releases.

But...that's more for collecting purposes anymore. I eat, sleep and breathe jungle nowadays.
