JDM gauge swap. Guages not working properly

I had my buddy do the kph->mph resistor mod to the jdm speedo. I swapped over the speedo and tach to the gauge cluster in my 1991 240sx. When I turn the car on, the tach takes like a minute (seriously, 60 seconds) to go up to 1000 RPM, and the speedo moves very slowly too. These guages have sat for about 3 or 4 years without ever being used.I unplugged all the wires to the cluster, and the tach and speedo go to zero. When I plug the harness back in, they read about 300 rpm and about 5 mph with the motor off.

Also the blinkers dont work!

What's the deal? I didn't swap the USDM guages back over yet, but they worked before I swapped the JDM ones over. The only difference in the car is that I changed the ECU today before I installed the JDM guages.

Also this is my first post in NICO

EDIT: OK I swapped the USDM speedo back over, and it works just fine. The blinkers do not work still. The tach goes up to the RPM and then just sits there. It's like peak hold.

that's the weirdest problem I've heard yet happening to a cluster. I'd probably guess it were a loose harness. Was the turn signal light working before the cluster switch over?

yes, everything was working before. I guess I'll just have to swap the US tach back over and just toss out this JDM one.

Yeah I'd probably put back the usdm cluster and make sure the connections are tight. The thing is that the cluster should have read the speed sensor at the back of your transmission the same. If you're still interested in making that jdm cluster work, try popping in the jdm speed sensor and see if that works. When I changed over from my sohc cluster to the sr20det cluster, I had to change my speed sensor and my tachometer. But the weird thing is you've got a DOHC and it shouldn't need that speed sensor to be swapped. A real noodle scratcher if you ask me.

OK the blinkers didn't work because I didn't have the hazard switch plugged in.

I swapped the USDM speedo and tach back over, and they work great. My car has an SR swap, that was the whole idea behind doing the tach swap. The car was originally a 1991 basemodel 240sx. So I don't know if it was single or double cam.

Oh also, I was always using the USDM cluster. I was just swapping the speedo and tach guages back and forth. I never even tried plugging in the JDM cluster. I don't want to lose my odometer. Plus the JDM cluster has extra lights that I wouldn't use.

swapped the US gauges back into the US gauge cluster and they work fine
