jdm gauge cluster

i bought another 240 for parts and it happened to have a jdm gauge cluster.the guy i bought it from says that although the gauges read KM, it is programmed for mph. ( so if the needle is at 20 km, it is actually 20 mph)

my question is.. do i need his ecu or anything?or just plug the thing up and it will magically work?

plug it up, it will magically work.

* the "programming" from km -> mph is typically done on the gauge piece itself, so you shouldn't need anything. I'm guessing this is for the 180mph cluster, been done by a lot of people before.
