I'm most likely going to purchase a JDM engine from a US supplier, and noticed that some people sell them with engine wiring harnesses, ecu's and harnesses, etc. My question is do you need the ecu, maf, and other miscellaneous electronics from that specific engine, or are the ecu's compatible between all vg30dett's? Thanks!

Take this as an educated guess, but I would think that the electronics are NOT car specific

A ecu from a 96 will be different than 90 to 95. The 95+ ptu is different and requires a different connector. 95+ also uses the new style injectors(also differenent connector). Why not get a USDM motor?

Not totally sure what you mean by usdm but the business is in California. I found this auction on ebay and called the guy. He says they drive the cars over in japan to test them and then bring over whats useable. He said it runs perfect and the car actually had 28k on it. Plus you mentioned the different connectors but my car is a 91 and the motor is a 92-93 he said, so it should just basically be plug and play right?

what i mean is buy a motor out of a USDM(united states domestic market) 300zx. There are plenty of crashed 300zx's here with good motors. I don't understand the infatuation with people and JDM motors..they are identical. Maybe you can find one local?

+1 to engine being identical, and there's a lot more certainty on exactly has happened with said engine.
