I know this question has been asked before but I was wondering if anyone has had a good experience with a JDM engine. I hear horror stories about them all the time. I was planning on buying a concept z tt front clip. I just don't want it to have a bent rod or other major issues like I sometimes hear about. I would plan to throw a gasket kit on it and replace the oil pan and pump, compression test and rebuilding the turbos. Does anyone have any advice? Anyone had a good experience with a JDM engine from concept z? Is it more danger than it's worth? Thanks guys.

I had a great experience, mine was a JDM engine that was originally put in a different car and was bought from Coz. He is a good guy and I think will have at least a 30 day warranty, just talk to him.

Check out the bearings when you have the pan out and get new CHRA's instead of rebuilding. Just an FYI, check the crank to make sure whether it has a pilot bearing or an auto washer in it. That will tell you right away if the TT is an Auto or Manual. Companies have been known to switch or get the engine incorrect.

If you buy a front clip you have a dash with known miles and the body that it's packaged in helps to protect it from shipping damage. I generally do not like JDM motors as most come on a pallet and are miles unknown although every seller claims low miles, iver opened them up to find oversized bearings evident of their last rebuild, so unless it comes with the dash it's miles unknown. Looks like you are planning a TT swap into a 2+2 chassis, if you must have the T and the 2+2 you either find one someone else did or do it yourself, if you don't need the 2+2 it's cheaper to just buy the TT.
