ok so I have a 1995 300ZX TT with 224k original miles and I am planning on taking the engine out to replace turbos for new OEM units. My question is, should I buy a jdm vg30dett with 180 psi on all cylinders ? or should I stick to my vg30dett with around 115-120 psi on all cylinders ? I don t have enough to rebuild my engine thats why that idea. this is not my daily.
My engine was working fine just the turbo seals gone.
Thank you guys!!

HOw much is the JDM engine?

If you get the JDM engine you will need to do basic stuff to getting running and reliable. Everything you can swap like oil pan, I would suggest a new oil pump and get all seals replaced. You will also need a 120k kit and flush the crap out of the coolant system.

this is the link to the engine in question

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1990-1991-1992- ... 7a&vxp=mtr

they have the test video right there and I find that really helpfull
$1600 yes I know there will be bend turbo inlets, inoperable turbos, crack sensors, in need of timming belt and such, but as long as it works fine with those 180psi Im happy, but I read so many horror stories about jdm engines, but good ones too

I don t know I just need opinion guys

Honestly, for 1600, for can almost just rebuild yours. You should be able to do a basic rebuild for about 2k. Just a thought.

I have a JDM in mine, but I also did a TT swap. I have had zero issues with it, but also replaced the critical areas.

How would I be able to rebuild my tt for 2k ? I guess honing the block getting new rings and rod bearings and thats it ? I know a rebuild kit with all the parts and gasket is 2k at czp but thats without the work on the block etc etc

If I end up buying this jdm engine I will take it almost completly a part and I will be practically using only the shortblock
.
I will be taking the heads off to inspect valves, valve sits and see if there is any rust and change head gaskets put a new knock sensor in.
Im planning on spending 2k on this

what I think I am going to do is buy a gasket kit from czp.

should I be fine with this ?
